I totally agree !

I also find it quite unusual with an electronic album that isn't a pure techno/dance album. I hope we'll see more of that in the future :tu:

Martin Gore explain his new album:

I just bought the album. I'm pretty excited to hear it, as it looks like my cup of tea -> euro modular instrumental tracks by one of my favorite artist of all time!! :hyper:

Gods.
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

I've listened to the album a couple of times, and I think it's pretty solid. Martin's got his own style, unlike the artists I hear in the new synthwave trend which just basically copy the style of eighties commercial music (and muzak!). It's also very well produced, but that was to be expected. I think it's better than VCMG, which I liked, but it was just ok, not really good.

Heard it a couple of times myself now. Wasnt keen. Too mellow for me.

I agree - he do indeed have his very own style.

I also agree that most artists today look more into the past then into the future.

That, by the way, goes for a lot of sofysynth developers too.

Back in the days electronic musi was the usic of the future. Today a lot of people are obsessed about the past Copying electronic music of the past, making softsynths that are emulations of what we've seen in the bast etcetera....

Back then people called them self "futurist". That is definitely not the case today..neither in the electronic music field or in the VST area.

It would be interesting to see a new generation of electronic music artist trying to do the music of the future. They could use granular and spectral synthesis instead of the old subtractive methods. Additive synthesis seems under used too (except for organs).

Yes, absolutely !

It would be very welcome !
DM, Kraftwerk and many other bands of that time tried to do something new.

Electronic music of today is to much of a nostalgia/vintage thing. There's really a lack of visions.

People try sometimes to be inovative. But IMO they're to often inovative within a boundary of the sounds and styles of the past.

I really really want to hear the msuic and sounds of the future !!!
