I need a laptop to take on holiday for a few months, using windows cubase 5 with large sample libraries. Under 1k preferably, but whatever. Looking at the DELL spx13, and 3800 workstation, ASUS Zenbook UX303LA-DB51T. I have a fireface 400 so need firewire port.

Thanks

I have not messed around with Dells xps13 but I bought the xps12 convertible laptop last year to use as a simple portable media machine. (Its the i5 version with only 4 gb of ram) I ended up putting Studio one 2 pro, Reason 8, and Samplitank 3 on it and im always blown away by how well it handles them on the processing side. I just use a small goflex turbo external drive to house all the samples and audio and it seems to handle it really well. The specs on this new xps 13 are similar only larger in screen size and memory but it should perform really well. I have always had great luck overall with Asus laptops for audio and midi but ive had two XPS series laptops now by dell and both in that product line have handled production very nicely
