Re plugins, did you watch this video?

ParticleRay wrote:...and the fact i can't set a midi controller to one specific channel in the step sequencer. I noticed I can linked the midi output and in put to a specific controller channel but as as soon as i go to edit another channel within the step sequencer the controller (arturia beatstep) plays the pattern i made on both the specified channel and the one i am editing.
Does this help? From the manual...

http://www.image-line.com/support/FLHel ... l_channels

NOTE: When Options > General settings > Auto select linked modules is:
OFF: Channel buttons open plugins for editing and the Channel selector LEDs select Channels for live MIDI control. This allows you to play one instrument Channel live and edit another.
I watched the vid. The process is still a bit clumsy feeling as opposed to the old method of adding plugins.

The link to fix the midi issue helped a little. As soon as I add an new sound to the step sequencer it deselects all channels. This still doesn't solve leaving a second midi controller for general use free too use on any other step sequencer channel with out having to remove the Beastep's association with a specific channel.

Now I found what I meant. These are the features that (it seems) were removed and featured that were IMHO great and I'll deeply miss and hope that they are brought back. https://www.image-line.com/support/FLHe ... uencer.htm

2. Repeat step sequencer

That I could use 2 bar loop of drums for 4+ bar loop of what ever.

5. Graph editor

Superfast velocity editing (this I really really want and was something that FLS did way better than any other DAW)

6. Keyboard editor

Not essential but was nice for quick pitch change with percussions (very helpful when making techno or house percs).

Why did imageline even drop these?

You are aware that there is a difference between a feature request, and a stick head in the sand mentality, right? Some people wrote in this thread that they never expect that anything will change, or the devs will ever listen to user requests. That's a difference to asking if feature A or feature B will be implemented.

I learned one thing. The differences between the whaaaing and feature requests is quite a fine line with some here.

So I will refrain from any whaaambulance calls.

That just makes some kind of irritable ppl even more so.

I'm out.

evildragon had mentioned a couple ideas for adding multiple time signatures and Gol responded and seemed a bit interested. some sort of template thing was talked about. I am optimistic this will be looked at.. can't find the comments.. they are in one of the threads.

I think part of the issue is that people bombard a "new release !!" thread with "but it doesn't do this", "it's not as good as everything else", "I want this...", etc.

There are official forums where (registered) users can easily (and politely) request new features.
There are plenty of other places (even new threads) to vent / complain / suggest / post cats.

Why clutter up a genuine "Hey - here's something new - enjoy" with complaints. I guess some people just like to rain on a parade.

Sometimes, all you need is a

More than that: shift editing. :(

Yep, and no matter what developers add or change, it doesn't matter, there will always be something else missing or wrong or bad or similar.

Nature of the beast. To their credit, the FL guys (imo) handle it better than most and don't shy away from the criticism. Most other developers and/or PR people would have been long gone from here (this particular board) ... and kinda already are it seems.

I'm a big supporter of closed product forums, so at least developers can know (if they prefer) that the noise is coming from actual users and they maybe don't spend as much time on demo users, some who only ever demo everything to tear it down.

well, the (rather rare) times when I use FL Studio is as a step sequencer - and this is as what it started. So I guess it is justified to complain about the removal of some useful step sequencer features. Other people have other complaints and it is their right to express these. And it is the right of the devs to ignore this criticism. I do not see a problem here ...

And yes, FL is losing the fast workflow that one day was famous of...... :(

F*cking this. Now I have to add each plugin MANUALLY, to make it show up in the plugin list, when I want to use the "replace" function. And don't even tell me to use the "Plugin Picker", that thing is so style over substance, it's basically useless. It only looks nice, but there is NO overview whatsoever. I want a nice simple list of my plugins, sorted by name, nothing more.

I hate that it now forces you to use the browser for VSTi Plugins. I only ever used the browser for samples, now it keeps switching to different folders, when I want to stay in a certain sample folder. :dog:
They have made a integral step of workflow unnecessarily complicated.

Fl Studio 12 is a complete mess in my opinion. Every knob, every button is WAYY too big now, and there's too much space between every. The Mixer now has less overview than before, thanks to missing lines between each mixer channel. I guess that's the touchscreen "optimization" so you can use it with your big, meaty fingers? Well, I don't need no f*cking touchscreen optimization. Also the seperate "Miscellanous Functions" Window is now a Tab in the Vsti Window (Which you can hardly miss, considering how huge they made that button). I don't like that. I always liked that seperate little window.

I'm sticking with 11 until they "fix" the interface of FL12. If not, well I'm sure there are other good DAWs out there. I always liked FL for it's workflow and ease of use. FL Studio 12 is a huge deterioration in that regard. Dammit, at least give people the option to switch back to the old, non-vector interface.

I think you need to (download 12.0.2 because it makes some changes to the deep scan tool) have a look at this section of the manual...

...because this should look familiar...

...and watch this video (to the end)...
