I only brought up Element because I seem to remember liking the demo more than Saurus when it was first released and it has a bit more going on. I didn't like either enough to buy them though. I was mostly just looking at similar synths and relative costs. So forget Element. Let's talk Retrologue. A bit less features under the hood, but IMO, a much better and more "vintage" sound. Quite good and $50. Anyway, I don't want to start a "this vs. that" flame war. I'm just pointing out that there are competitors that are offering synths for less money, so for Tone2 to get my money they had better wow me. Saurus 2, though a bit better than Saurus 1, doesn't move the needle.

I like Retrologue a LOT better than when I first messed with it in Cubase. I had to dig a little deeper into it to appreciate it, it's a really good synth. But it's complementary with Diva and Saurus to my ears. They each have certain qualities the others don't. So does (generally) the Arturia V-collection.zerocrossing wrote:I only brought up Element because I seem to remember liking the demo more than Saurus when it was first released and it has a bit more going on. I've learned I don't have a one stop analogue vst, all of them are really useful to me. I wouldn't want to do without any of them.
Ha ha suck it!

A longer release doesn't seem to improve it.dwozzle wrote:I wonder if slightly longer release time might help, if you see what I mean. Don't know if that's even in effect in mono mode when a new note comes in, but it's worth a try. (Not at my rig, and don't have v2 any more anyway, since I bought and installed v1.)fluffy_little_something wrote:I don't like the mono mode at all, it is hard if not impossible to get rid of the blip, even with higher attack values. I think it has to do with the way the new note kills the old one.
I suppose most people don't mind, but I do.
The biggest issue for me is the pitchwheel, though, and the noise implementation.
Not sure I will keep it, frankly. Anyone want it for 90 euros?

If you don't make at least one complete album with this synth, I'll never forgive you.Mac of BIOnighT wrote:A quick Berlin School, Saurus2-only test:

Nice demo Mac
I'm really liking the "tone" of Saurus 2 and it's instant tweak-ability. I received the Omnisphere 2 upgrade yesterday, but I'm actually having more fun playing with Saurus.

It's funny...I downloaded (and enjoyed a lot) the MPowersynth a few days ago, but I'm hitting Saurus much more.db3 wrote:Nice demo Mac

And yes folks, I realize how great MPowersynth is! Saurus just has a certain charm I guess.

I'm really grooving with Saurus since I picked up the V2.Apostate wrote:It's funny...I downloaded (and enjoyed a lot) the MPowersynth a few days ago, but I'm hitting Saurus much more.db3 wrote:Nice demo Mac

MPowersynth is a beast no doubt (I tried the demo a while back). But for me it was a lot more faffing around to get the sound I was after. That's not a bad thing per se, as the MPower synth is capable of going beyond most other synths but it takes more time to get there - Because it's so feature rich.
But Saurus 2 is getting a lot of my attention.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Wow, really nice stuff! All of this from Saurus 2, no external FXs?
Also, how much time you think this took you to made this track?
Thanks!

What do you think are the pros and cons of Saurus 2 vs Hive? I know Hive is more about supersaws and a comparison of Saurus 2 with Diva would be more appropriate, but price-wise Saurus 2 is closer to Hive. I was gonna get Hive while the intro price is still in effect, but Saurus 2 looks (and sounds) very nice too!
