I'm not totally asleep at the wheel, but I've stopped buying pretty much all current music. What ai'm getting to is...when I sit down to write, I clear my mind, listen to some patches, and just let it happen. If you trust yourself (it's easier if you're only making music for fun), then you can literally forget all rules. Many will stick anyway because of all of the years of listening to music. I'm far from the first to say "There are no rules". I think that approach is exciting because I always feel like I might hit on something that I really like and it might happen to be really different. For the record, I own one Skrillex and one Nero record. :hihi:

I skipped part of my own point- Omnisphere is like a playground of inspiration for me. After a few minutes, I usually get something going. I use a lot of insert effects these days, so no sound has to even be recognizable anyway.
I humbly consider this post to be poetry.

Good stuff man :tu:

That is pretty much my exact attitude about current music and inspiration!

Yep!

I like that... "Omnisphere is like a playground of inspiration for me...".

That sums it up very nicely.

Really pleased that I have not lost any of my ratings and all the controller mappings I set up in my Kore template are still intact too.
Good to know. My ratings are like a map to the vast wilderness.

One can only imagine what 'Sound lock' will be like in Alchemy 2 (whenever it re-appear) .. That is one of the features I was looking forward to have..

I hope you're a logic user. Otherwise I wouldn't hold out hope.

I was thinking about this earlier, but isn't the sound lock kind of the same thing a choosing a preset, then changing the sound sources. Only difference is, with sound lock, you can change both sound sources in both parts (if both are used) at once with a single click. Is this accurate?

By the way, they said they increased the number of automatable parameters to 512 from 256, which means now we should be able to map out all mappable parameters for a single synth part and still have some extras for effects (or Trilian macros etc.) i haven't tested myself since I haven't been able to download yet.

I suggested that they make the waveform selector an automatable parameter so it's easy to assign to hardware knob and scroll through. Support person said they thought it was a good idea but i doubt it happened. I hate when waveform selections aren't a host visible parameter. So much mousing.

It's not just the sound sources; you can lock all kinds of different things from a preset (the arp pattern, the FX section, etc.) and it applies to all subsequent presets until you unlock again. I love this on the Virus TI and was extremely happy they made it part of Omni.

Being from Dublin, Ireland we had heavy regular exposure to what was going on in the underground scenes in the U.K. and the rest of Europe long before the European sound came to the USA.
Despite my background, even still I can say that I think Dubstep and all this other wub wub blip blop bullshit is not any kind of progression or stepping stone to something new and improved or the next stage of anything but rather the end of the line for a tired and worn out genre that has run out of new ideas in much the same way that rock music and many other styles did.
To be honest I'm disappointed in Spectrasonics pandering to that demographic because it's already gotten old and outdated. We all know how cheesy those old trance sounds from the mid-late 90s sound today, they haven't dated as well as some sounds from the 80s have they?
This dubstep stuff will have even less of a shelf life than that and dare I say will date Omnisphere itself a lot more than any bread and butter pad sounds.
What ever you say, pops.

I'm surprised no one's going on about the fact that effects now have modulatable parameters. As soon as I get it installed on Monday it's like the second thing I'm going to check out.

:dog: Oh, that's right, I completely forgot you can choose which parameters to lock. Wow, that would indeed be nice :o So jealous 8)

Yes, for me this is huge, but the first thing I'll probably due is go straight to the wavetables :hihi: and create some patches with them having verb and phaser rate (use this one a lot) set up with envelopes.
