I gotta say this was very well produced! Sounds great! I would like to hear more of this stuff

You got yourself a new SC follower too 8)
You can do even better than that:

A $2-per-release Patreon subscription gets you ten (10!) complete albums just for signing up.
(And you can cancel at any time - though you probably won't want to.)

Ah ah, thanks :) I'm thinking about it... (for now, as a Patreon supporter, you'll get my latest single for free, as soon as I finish uploading it ;-) )

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it :) If you want more, just check out my "Classic EM" series here https://macofbionight.bandcamp.com/ ;-) That's mostly Berlin School, but also other kinds of classic em in general :)

I know Hive is more about supersaws and a comparison of Saurus 2 with Diva would be more appropriate, but price-wise Saurus 2 is closer to Hive. I was gonna get Hive while the intro price is still in effect, but Saurus 2 looks (and sounds) very nice too!
Hive is more flexible and thus better for people building more complex patches. The sound is subjective...

Also, how much time you think this took you to made this track?
Thanks! :tu:
Thank you! :) No sound-altering effects, no, just a couple of quiet reverbs when I needed, for example, a reverb only on one side of the stereo field or a ping-pong delay (which I think Saurus can do, but I didn't want to stop the creative flow by looking for it to make sure).
I'm not sure how long it took me, I would say maybe a couple of hours? Please note: I had never created any sound with Saurus before this track (it was new to me to the point that I wasn't even sure which version I had). Clearly, I'm going to use it quite a lot from now on, though :)

Oh ffs, now you're just showing off!

I was a little disappointed not to find any of your patches in the demo. I damn-near bought Nemesis on the strength of your Ambientica soundset (https://tone2.com/html/ambientica.html) - and I've had a real 'thing' against FM since I first laid hands on a DX7, more than 30 years ago. (Can I be banned for admitting that?)

;-P No, seriously, it's that easy to create great patches with Saurus, and I love the dirt you can add to them :)
Unfortunately, I wasn't part of the sound design team for it, but I'm thinking now of putting together a soundset when time permits and if Tone2 is interested...

59$ for update from v1. Haha this makes me angry. If you compare to AAS, u-he, xils-lab or gforce you get more features for half of that money. The features of saurus 2 would be no major update it would be free if you see diva 1.3 or xilslab syn'x 2. Shame on tone2 I don't want to waste my money, if you compare the demo of saurus 2 with v1, than v2 sounds realy bether, but unless you add u-he presswerk to v1, and the presets from demo2 can be added to v1. So realy no need to update

I wonder why I got mine for free....
Ha ha suck it!

You were probably a purchaser of Saurus 1 within the "grace period".

Which probably should have been forever, but was instead limited to some arbitrary window of time before the release of S2.

Checked out the new demo today and so here is my 2c

The demo as others have stated has the same dll name (or .vst on mac) so when the demo was installed it overwrote my Saurus 1 file. Not deeply annoying but I did have to reinstall Saurus 1, rename it then install the demo version so I had a comparison between the two.

I am not going to get into the 'more analogue sounding' debate as it very subjective. I like Saurus, it is quick to program, low on resources and is great for certain sounds. After all if a plugin gives you the sound you are trying to create it does not matter how it is made. All I will say is that I find sounds in Saurus that have the pleasant quality I appreciate in my analogue gear.

That being said, the demo (for me) is not a V2 level of improvement. The same sounds appear to be there but for a real upgrade at least a new set of presets would have been nice. I see that there are extra ones in this new version but seeing virtually the same list when first opening the plugin did not inspire me). There are improvements in the oscillators (to my ears) but nothing mind blowing enough to pay $79 for the upgrade. Maybe $35 I would have gone for it but at this price it doesn't (personally) provide enough value. It feels like a V1.5 improvement. If Tone2 decide to have a sale at some point and lower the cost of the upgrade I will probably go for it as it does have some workflow improvements. The eye-candy improvements do nothing for me as tend to control plugins with hardware via VE Pro so I'm looking at the graphics and at the end of the day nicer knob graphics make no difference to the sound!

After programming some sounds and tweaking some of the presets I did find the plugin to be inspirational and a lot of fun. However, opening Saurus 1 and matching the values gave just as much enjoyment and inspiration so it wasn't the V2 that was inspiring me. That was the disappointment, it felt (and mostly sounded) like the same experience.

If you don't own Saurus I do think its a good buy. The sound sets are expensive but the synth is so easy to get good results by programming them yourself its not a deal breaker.

Overall I would say, try it, compare it against V1 and see if it has value to you regardless of what I (or anyone elses) opinion is as it personal and relative to the rest of your plugins/hardware.

tboneUS, there will be no sale on upgrades. AFAIK upgrades are offered exclusively through Tone2 themselves. Tone2 don't offer sales as it devalues the product (their own words on that).

Thanks for the info, good to know. I will enjoy Saurus 1 then and keep an eye out for V3 in coming years.
