Today all wishes came true :)

In the new beta version you will find the updated rhythm editor, fixed naming of note lengths (no mention of 'Beat' which is now called 1/4) and an "Add Chord Notes" variation for yellukhan (thanks for the mock up, please recommend a better name for this variation).

Now I should work on the OS X version!

Have fun!
Attila

That's it!
what a wonderful support Attila!
still testing/messing with it but definitely i loved what i hear so far.

i am not that good to make a name suggestion but how about "Follower Voice"

Now!
i want to suggest again "Ability to move Ghost Phrases to different track(s)"
plus "Mute Original" option for the new Add Chord Notes variation.

dream is :
for example violin for melody (original phrase in this case),
viola for first or second chord interval
and
cello for second or third

all monophonic and all would follow the what original Melody Generator creates.
since they are in the different tracks
(BTW. i prefer to use as Track Variation instead of Phrase... easy to remember)
this brings us easily create sections via multiple Legato voices / instruments using just one melody generator
(or any monophonic phrase)

IMHO. this would highly usable.

in any case, i want to thank you again for Rhythm Editor and wonderful variation! :tu:

(example RC project and mp3 added to user songs)

I was also thinking about "Ability to move Ghost Phrases to different track(s)" lately, it would be very useful. At the same time "Use other tracks rhythm" would also be useful when you set up the rhythm for a phrase.
I will try to add these next week, but now the VST plug-in on OS X has the highest priority.

Thank you for posting in 'User Songs'! :tu:
Really, I wish more people posted their ideas or tests there.

Thanks,
Attila

That's great news Attila!
i loved "Use other tracks rhythm" idea instantly.
please take your time, no hurry.
...me thank you.

Hi Yıldırım,
I forgot to tell you that the "Mute Original" option was added before I replied, I just forgot to mention. :)

Hi Atilla,

I downloaded the new beta and it is wonderful. Even a small enhancement like renaming the notes to 1/4, 1/2 etc... really enhances usability. Well done.

I also vote for "Use other track's rhythm". That would be extremely helpful for writing music centered around a particular groove or feel.

Lastly, now that phrases can be grouped into folders, it would be great if we could have a generator that would pick phrases randomly from the phrases contained in that folder (I believe this was a previous suggestion called "Idiom generator" based on the idea that most people may group different musical ideas in folders based on idiom, but any name will do).

I think it would be very easy to implement - just a random number generator to choose a file out of the enumerated files in the folder. It can always be expanded later to have some filter parameters such as phrase length, note density, etc.. which would make it a even more useful. But even just a very simple tool to randomly select a phrase with no parameters would save a ton of time.

There is a "Chord Rules Editor" so I was thinking how realistic would it be to have a "Melody Rules Editor" ? (With the ability to save different rule sets and maybe import the rule sets into the melody generator?)

Right now the melody generator is a little basic. You can check/uncheck specific melodic intervals for the entire phrase. For example If you uncheck perfect 5th in allowed up motion, and allowed down motion, they won't be allowed at all for that phrase. What if you would like to allow perfect 5th's, but only after specific melodic intervals? Or only after specific melodic intervals, and only up motion?

Sooo, I was envisioning something like the "Chord Rules Editor" but for melody. Where you could set specific rules for all of the melodic intervals. For example define the possible starting and ending melodic intervals, define which melodic intervals are allowed after a minor 2nd (both up and/or down motion). Which melodic intervals are allowed after a major 2nd, etc, etc. (Along with the sliders for probability).

I like the thought of being able to analyze my favorite melodies and set rules to "mimic" them. I also think being able to set our own melody rules would result in more musical sounding generated melodies, and less "random" sounding.

How realistic does this sound? I hope I explained myself well enough!

Disperato, this sounds like a very interesting feature! I am especially excited about analyzing existing melodies.
You can be sure that this feature will be added!
Thanks for this great idea! 8)

Wonderful! I hope it won't be too difficult to implement or integrate with the existing melody generator because I do like the existing options under "Mode" "Climax" "After leap" and the four slider options. The addition of melody rules could make it extra powerful!

I feel a little bad now because I've had RapidComposer since the end of 2013, and had always been toying with the idea, but never suggested it because I always thought "it's probably not even possible"

I know this maybe is asked too much, but Attila could you think of creating an MFX plugin version for Logic Pro? Nearly every good midi creation and manipulation program these days has such an MFX. And it's great. I own some. But if that's too much for the moment I'll wait for the really great new other features coming first like the above one. :)

The good news is that with the rewritten plug-in, communication between the plug-in and the application became amazingly simple, which means it will be easy to create AU, VST3 and other plug-in formats. I cannot promise this will happen next week, not even next month, but I am excited about this, so I try to build something before v3.0.
