What's a 'Neuro"?

A lot of bass sounds these days found in glitch hop, dubstep, drum and bass, and even some electro/techno these days have been classified as neuro-bass.

I decide to make a category that fits into this category (basically any futuristic phaser transformer type sound, usually a bass sound). They contain a lot of movement through wavetables and can be transformed a lot with the XYZ modulation. A good portion of the sounds found in the video demo are in the "Neuro" category.

So they are basses then?

Mostly, but they can sound interesting at higher pitches too - for example at :51 in the video you can hear a quick ring mod type flutter synth which is one of the neuro sounds.

tbh that is true of a lot of basses, many sound good as leads for example. I've also made lots of bass-scapes.

Yes definitely a lot of them make good leads and plucked high sounds.

Some free presets from this now available on the Image-line forums:

Hi Toby!
first- these sound great!
second- thanks for the trial pack!...but these (*.fst) do not seem to work in the vst version (Harmor 1.3 vst build 12)
they DO work in FL studio version just fine with the FL version of Harmor, but not with the "IL Harmor" vst instrument...
perhaps i am missing some little thing, but thought you may want to know in case there is another way to save them or something? Though I've owned it for many years I am VERY much a novice when it comes to the machinations of FL Studio ;)

Thanks for letting me know! I have confirmed with Image-Line this is a problem with the FL12 version of Harmor being ahead of the VST version due to the latest FL Studio release - so unfortunately it looks like they will only load in the FL version until Image-Line brings the VST version up to date (which will most likely be fairly soon). Apologies to any inconveniences this has caused.

Hi Toby,

I bought your presets pack but I'm using the VST version of Harmor and I've the same problem.
Do you have any idea when this will be fixed? Can't wait to work with your pack.

Hi, and thanks for the patience. I just got a response from reflex 2 hours ago saying it is taking longer than he expected and still hasn't been able to finish the Harmor update.

Now for some good news, if you have Serum I have converted almost all the presets to Serum format and will be giving this away for free to anybody that has purchased the pack already in the first 2 months. If you don't have Serum and are still waiting for the presets I appreciate your patience and am offering free copies of Monster Kicks (or another small pack) while you wait.

I heard some very cool sounds just in the individual (video) walk through. 8) I don't have this synth, but if I did I think I'd probably end up getting this pack. And I don't say that too often for what it's worth. :hihi:

I'm very excited to say that finally a public beta has been posted for the Harmor VSTi which loads these presets:
