I do that too. Except the Voxengo SPAN. But that's "just" a free analyzer. It doesn't really diminish my personal challenge ;)

I'm finished after about 15 hours of sound designing, writing, arranging and mixing. Now let's give it a break. Next week, before my holidays, I will relisten to it. If it's still any good, I'm in.

I've had a go at designing some sounds with this, so here is the link to 59 patches created so far:-

Cool stuff :o

I aggregated a bunch of stuff on the OP, so we've got a lot of new presets. Thank you everyone :party: :party:

Wow, you guys! So many preset already! :)
I must bow to you all - without OSC, I wouldn't have been so interested in synthesizing my own sounds. Just 10 minutes ago I have figured out how to make the perfect snare for what I need - And no sample-library to rely on this time. Amazing how well synthesis works once you understand it!

I am so looking forward to uploading the final master of my submission. Nearly everything has changed, even the title and coverart. :D

Good luck, everybody! Also, looking forward to last month's voting! :)

Thanks to all who donated patches so far :)

@Skelpolu: Unfortunately I couldn`t check out your patches because I cannot open up rar files. Can you make a zip file too?

@Mehum: Thanks for sharing :) You have got pm.

@Richard Semper: Always my presets hero :love: :lol: :wink:
Thank you so much, this is just great :D

@All: I`m also still working at my soundbank. Until now I have got approximately 45 patches, but not all are that great that I will put them on the list. My plan was to make at least one 32 patches soundbank, but only with the really good ones. Will take a while in addition, because I`m working nightshift again at the moment :(

I hope that I can post the soundbank monday evening or monday night. I guess I start to fall in love with this synth now that I discover all it`s possibilities and enjoying the partially really massive sound, it`s great fun :phones:

Why of course, here we go. :)

On a sidenote: I never thought about actually creating a full bank of sounds - Rather, I prefer creating new, individual presets each season for guaranteed variety. Am I the only one thinking that way, and is it bad? :pray:

I work like that as well. Downside is losing a bit of time when starting new projects. But I often make or use temporary sounds. Last challenge I used a drum synth to get the beat going quickly and then made the sounds in Dexed. This time I actually made the first idea on my phone (Caustic 3) when on the bus so I had a general idea of what kind of sounds I wanted.

Huh! That app seems quite nice, and it's for free? I'm all in, will check it out soon! :)
Glad to hear I am not some kind of insane person for not relying on presets - Gotta be honest though, I kind of dig the "random"-button to get some inspiration, as well. Used that for about 2 of the over 20 instances and adjusted them for my taste. I wish there was a similar synthesizer for free with such nice interface but with a bit more complexity as I've come to a bit of a halt at some point. Might be my lack of experience with sounddesign, but if there's a similar, yet more complex synth please do share it with me. :)

As for my submission this month: I am nearly done, will give it 5 days of rest before double-checking the final mix/master. What about you guys?

Yeah, I think, I'll actually do a bunch of songs to make a pick what I feel best about. It's not so easy with this synth as its filter is quite limited, but it's a neat challenge. I hope some EQ taming is allowed, too... although it could somewhat alter the sound.

I'm making absolutely all patches from scratch, simply because it's fun, but also as inspiration for a song and tailored compliments to the evolving sound of it, of course.
After listening to some of the old OSCs results, I'm pretty intimidated, though, as you guys are doing some wild stuff with very well crafted compositions/structures and truly beautiful mixes, too! I'm pulling myself together, though, and just go for the "dabei sein ist alles" concept, hahaha... ("taking part is everything" somehow sounds odd to me in English?!).

I think this pretty much answers your question. A lot of the mixes last time had some good EQing as part of mixing & mastering. That, I do suppose so, is totally okay as it only shapes the overall sound to make everything fit together neatly without having a nasty pile of mid-frequencies, for example. Without EQing, some of last months submissions wouldn't have been that loudly mastered. (not alone the EQ is responsable for that, of course). I was a bit too careful when it was about EQing & mastering last time, this time I am taking the approach of some of last months submissions. :)

I do suppose it sounds just fine, at least it does make sense in English. :lol:

:hug: ...how very, very comforting! All of it! :lol:
Yeah, as soon as you try to make those filter do some good work, the mid field explodes, hahaha...
In one of my reverbs, though, I have a filter to take off the lower shelf, but it comes with a Q factor that kind of adds something to the sound...eh...I'm trying to be really careful about it, but it does work so beautifully on my snare, haha...danged. We shall see!

Don't worry, you're not the only one in fear of their production - I for one use a lot of filter-sweeps for transitions. So far, my submission was accepted. I do suppose it's alright, considering they are not the main focus of the track in the end, but the synthesizers. If I am wrong on that however, I am pretty much screwed as Drum & Bass is impossible without some transitional filter-sweeps.. :help:

@Skelpolu:
Many thanks for the zip file. Could install and listen your patches in the meantime. My favorite is the Deep Chorus Pad and have you ever played the patch "Tremolo Noise Synth" as a chord??? That sounds pretty intresting :)

Concerning your question: I`m a beginner in all. I´m a beginner in synthesizer programming, in producing electronic music, in homerecording, in using a DAW, in making a mixdown and mastering. I do all this first since last year September. The only thing I`m not a beginner is in being a musician, because I`m making music since 29 years. But I played in bands and so I have no experiances in making electronic music.

This means: For me it is completely equal with what exactly I deal concerning producing electronic music because simply everything is practise for me and important to learn for me. Because it seems that I cannot join this OSC with a track because of my pc problems, I try to do at least what is possible. It is possible that I practise at least programming this month. That`s cool for me, because I learn something and it`s also cool for the others, because they get a couple of patches more.

That is why I`m making soundbanks, simply for practise and for learning synthesizer programming. Besides it has the nice effect that others also can benefit from it. Apart from that I almost never have got plan for a track, but let myself get inspired by the patches iself have created, other user created or factory presets. My ideas come while I`m simply playing around. This is why I probably also will do it in the future this way: Producing first the patches and after this starting to produce the track.

@Taron:
The correct english translation for "dabei sein ist alles" is "it`s the taking part that counts". Many germans here at OSC :lol:

As you see this sentence is also true for me. Even if I cannot take part to 100% (because my pc is making problems, or because I haven`t got enough off time in a certain month) I´m simply taking part as good as it is possible in making a couple of patches, listen the tracks and commenting them, join the forum discussion and so on. This way simply each OSC I can at least join partially makes sense for me because I always learn a little bit more :)

Great attitude! I'm here to learn as well. I just want to improve at what I love doing most, and have fun doing it. So I'm back again for this month if all goes well. I'm having some trouble with the synth though, I'm using FL Studio 11 and PG-8X has crashed quite a few times so far. Also changing the velocity of notes in the piano roll has no effect, that's the biggest issue for me. Any other FL users have this problem or know of a solution?
