That's along way out still, it's almost as if Akai was not prepared for the release of these at all.
Tick said they left the AKAI warehouse my question is how many left the warehouse? Are we talking like low numbers or thousands?

It's completely strange to me there's practically no feedback on these boards online yet.

I preordered from Sweetwater almost right away, and was given a mid-June date. If some are being shipped now, they are perhaps going somewhere that is not mass-market. I wouldn't say the long lead time necessarily means that Akai was unprepared - they just wanted to announce it at NAMM and also preempt anything NI might do with Komplete Kontrol.

Not strange if the early units are going to reviewers, say, and not end users.

if they are going to reviewers, don't you think there'd be some reviews online?

Btw Akai claimed they would be shipping (49keys) in March, that obviously never happened. So yeh they we're definitely not ready..

No apparently they've been shipping since April  that's the point, who even knows, AKAI hasn't made an official statement, whatsoever.

I was going by Tick's post, which was May 6th. Anyway, whatEVER. They haven't pushed out the original ship date I got from Sweetwater, which is the only one I care about

Sweet water had them to buy, then they called me saying they are fulfilling pre-orders from the beginning of the year. I really appreciated that, they rock. But, I expressed my reason for canceling with them was because I felt like akai seems like they are not ready to release. I've heard nothing from them, there's sparce information about release dates. There may be too much hype coupled with too much time may be bad for theese.

Oh, they are definitely ready, don't worry about that.

It is worrying that a company in 2015 doesn't realize the power of a person googling their product, and not a lot of info comes back. People Google peer reviews of things they buy nowadays, especially a 400-600$ keyboard. With all the misinformation floating around these, and no actual info from akai themselves, that's what worries me. If akai saw their preorder numbers, and didn't make enough units, or only made a few so they could say "now shipping", that worries me. It's like the video game industry. Bad reviews at the time of launch equals bad sales. All I've seen is people saying " akai, release the damn keyboard already". it doesn't bode well for the product. All the orders went out? Why is the " omg this keys is sooo sik, I'm makin phat beatz" chatter not starting? Or unboxing videos with 17 min of talking and reading the box to the camera?

You mean you want a massive marketing campaign to hype you up so much that you can have no doubt that these are the keys that will make you big time with paparazzi chasing you down every street and the ladies (or men) swooning when they see you all because you bought Akai Advance? :tu:

This I believe. Akai are not new to this, but it is a new product. There is so much involved in manufacturing and distribution that I'm not worried about it. I definitely look forward to the release. I still wish Akai would consider a version without keys (because I'm happy with the ones I already have, and simply would love a dedicated controller).

Maybe they're all too busy making tracks :)
Seriously, I don't know. But hey, It's been in the hands of end users for less than a week.

I'm gonna put this baby to bed real quick, I just got off the phone with my retailer who said these boards will not be in mass production/ready for mass shipping until around July in the U.S.

There you have it, so if you we're lucky and got an early release consider yourself extremely lucky as you got one before they we're officially mass produced. ;)

Akai has been known for jumping the gun on products actual release times, and on this one, they definitely did this. Another case of don't say your holding if your not.IMO this was not a smart move, as you just gave NI dev's a chance to catch you with your pants down. Remember their boards are already out here!

Sweetwater, being one of the largest names in the audio sales industry, had early access to a few them, but not enough units to distribute clearly. So you can pre-order one, but chances are your not gonna be playing with it, for a couple months!
