You tell the difference by knowing which version you downloaded and installed. If you want to use 32bit plugs with a 64 bit host you will need JBridge or something similar ...

FL goto the ? symbol on the top left of you scree next to the menus
Select help from the ? drop down menu.
Pop up window will show version number etc.

Also make sure you dont have any previous versions of the plugin somewhre in your vstplugins folder.
Also you can check if it will work in freeware hosts like VSThost for example.

ok seems to work in VST host (though a little clunky) which is great... but it's not FL...

FL Studio installs both versions (from v11.1 onwards), you can tell by the name of the shortcut you clicked.
Also, it has a built-in bit bridge in both x32 and x64 version.

Live has different installers for 32 and 64 bit, and no bit bridge ...

As much as I like the discussion, none of this explains to me why VST host (which has crashed twice on me and not picked up the VB 303 on another version of VST host) can occasionally pick it up and make it work with a large amount of lag, and yes FL and ableton can't even recognize it at all. This is also after using Jbridge as well.

Sorry that your choice of VST hosts is bad. :/

Here, everything is working perfectly with Reaper and Windows XP.

It's your choice, so stop whining. If it doesn't work for you, move on. Just don't whine.

Tell us your full hardware and software config.
The VSThost i linked above, literally never crashed on me.
VB-303 works flawlessly in REAPER here too (btw in my ears it is undistinguishable from the real hardware TB-303 especially when overdriven).

works perfect on energyXT/Win7 here.
do other 32bit se vsts work?
maybe you should ask in the 'hosts' forum,as it is possibly a FL issue?

I think you mis-interpret everything here. First off, I've tried several things DAWs, aswell as VST host (name of the software). They are all perfectly valid pieces of software with their own merits and issues. However they are not the issue here. Secondly, you're on XP still, c'mon get with the curve, I loved XP and all, but there's always time to upgrade. Finally I'm not whining. I'm here to get support (which I am, although so far suggestions have been taken and not worked)

For anyone who is having trouble getting their DAW to recognize VB-303, consider that it may be an issue with negative ID's. VB-303 presents a negative ID, which will of course be a problem if your DAW has a problem with negative ID's. It's possible, because Sonar did at one point ignore VSTs with negative ID's which meant that VB-303 was invisible, although I believe they fixed it eventually.

But I can't get this to work at all. the folders are basically empty, and I've tried re-downloading this three times already. Is it not as simple as unzipping the folder and placing it in a VST folder??
yes, the folders are empty
when the plugin is loaded - it will try to extract its modules (.sem files) in the subfolder
if it doesn't - it might be because the OS doesn't allow write access in that folder
it's not clear to me whether that's the case or the DAW doesn't list/detect the plugin at all
It doesn't matter how it sounds..
..as long as it has BASS and it's LOUD!

Boom, issue solved. Folder needed write access (was set to read only) now works in FL studio as it should. Now I nee to learn how to use it within FL.

Found this amazing piece of software last weekend, and finally got everything interfaced and running using Audiomulch 2.0.3, VB 303 Control, and midiKeyboard this afternoon.

Question for the developer, one of the functions I loved with Rebith back in the day was the randomize function to create patterns. And I noticed that on 4/21/13 you posted that the randomize function was broken so you disabled it.

Do you have any suggestions on how to generate random notes/events in the sequencer?

Thanks for making such a wonderful sounding emulation of the 303. It sounds so much nicer than Rebirth did!
