EVERYONE at kvr should download this and try it. Seriously, with VSTi support, its not just 'A cooler ACID' anymore. Its serious business
I know lots of you guys here are looking for that 'one perfect app'. This might be the closest thing to it.

If it sounds good it is good.

I'm curious about that... With the speed of the average machine these days, is that an issue, really? I've never noticed it myself... Maybe my stuff isn't complicated enough? Or maybe I've never been able to get enough shit going on my G4 mac to make it an issue...

Yea, I know the principle, but I though Sir was PC only... So what else does? Nothing in Logic, which is why there isn't any PDC right?

I think the fact that you find Live utterly useless and that countless amounts of others find Live extremely useful, while also Using it across the board professionaly in every way a very interesting contrast.
Also I was wondering if you found the midi in your current sequencer of choice 'impressive or not' and if not do you still use it.
lastly in your comment you said you downloaded the beta and said that you were 'paying' with it. I was wondering if that was a freudian slip?

My understanding is that there is no PDC at all in Live. I haven't tested it myself, but I will.does it have latency compensation? if not, it's automatically completely useless as the main sequencer.
I also find the Live 4 midi editor to be quite tedious and seriously lacking in functionality -- could be pilot error, though, as I'm pretty new to it.
I can't seem to find anything like linked/cloned midi clips -- that's a big one for me. Anyone know if there is such a thing in Live 4?
Also had a few crashes, but it is still beta, of course.
Still, it's a lot a fun to play with.

nope no pdc, yet but they're already working on version 5!
but live is so not just for loops that it's not even funny, that is a misnomer like the fact that its called Live so alot of people think that's the only way to apply it, thats changing though, alot of folks
are realizing it's better in the studio. I think thats why ableton has gone in this direction, its been better for the studio than Live performance since day one.
I hear you on that Logic ttoz, but you don't find the way regular old midi is implemented to be inpressive at all?
the way you can quickly record and playback nonstop
or the way you can trigger midi clips and record the triggering, the automation (not itself) but how it's implemented. personaly I find that the new ways Live does
regular old things is it's finest feature, and extremely useful.

Even though Live's midi support is pretty primitive compared to Cubase, which I usually use, I'm finding it overall a lot more fun and productive. I've written more stuff in the last two weeks with Live than in the last 6 months with Cubase.TTOZ wrote: um yeah LOL, that should be "playing with it".
I don't find live utterly useless, i use version 3 rewired into logic on a daily basis. but i use it for one purpose, loops. i am not liking the midi implementation in version 4 at ALL so far. BUT, we all have a different way of working. i am one of the few members on this board who is a logic audio addict, and yes i think the midi is unsurpassed in every respect, and i use it non stop. BUT, i bet you that most people who love live4's midi would hate logic audio.
It's easy to put together a feature matrix that makes Live look pretty crude compared to Logic or Cubase or Sonar but that doesn't tell the whole story.

Am I missing something....you have to be a registered user of Live 3 to use this beta? I thought since the beta had an expiration date it would act sort of as a demo, but it's prompting me for a serial number. I really want to check this out.
For those of you who are using it, it handles midi the same way as audio right?....meaning you have midi clips you can trigger in whatever sequence you want. That would be a HUGE seller for me, as I like to use only midi for an entire arrangement before commiting to any audio. Thanks
