Omnisphere 2: $500 Crackle Effect?

It seems just about every preset in Omni 2 pops and crackles if playing more than two or three notes at the same time. If I turn down the master volume in Omni, it helps, but what a pain changing it in every preset.
I'm on a Macbook Pro, quad core i7 with 16GB of ram. The CPU is idling, and I've cranked samples up to 1024 in my audio driver. Anyone else having this kind of problem?
I'm also not liking the incremental loading of patches. They take longer to load in version 2 than in version 1. I'm running all solid stat drives, and the load times are around what they were in version 1 before I upgraded to SSD. The SSD performance improvement seems to have been negated by a poorly implemented incremental load algorithm. I'm hoping there is a way to turn it off. I guess I'll be spending time readng the manual instead of playing music.

I seem to have the problem when I use Innerspace. I was thinking I was the only one.Ciberithm wrote:It seems just about every preset in Omni 2 pops and crackles if playing more than two or three notes at the same time. Obviously not.

Yup. Very powerful system too. Not even Diva in Divine mode (at 64 samples buffer) does this to my system.
NOT complaining. I've been through much worse things in life than a crackly VST.

Same here. Had to change ASIO buffer size to avoid crackles. Never happened to me even with latest plugins sporting 'modern' CPU-demand.
OTH I'm sure the problem will be adressed by forthcoming updates.

I've noticed insane cpu usage with the granular patches mainly. Takes up an entire core of my quad core mbp when playing polyphonically sometimes.

Are these issues happening with most omni2 users?

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Not had one instance of crackling to date, maybe I haven't pushed the granular modes/preset enough?!
Only criticism I can find is the loading time of the GUI and 'some' patches. I am guessing this is due to the library and patch size, have similar issue with Serum.
Running a 6 year old rig; i7 2.66ghz, 12gb ram@1300mhz, OS ssd, rme 512samples @ 44.1khz.
May update the libraries to be stored on an ssd as these are coming down to more affordable prices.
Hope people resolve their issues, maybe spectrsonics have some streamlining to do...

No real issues here either with this either on the 4930 main rig or the i7 laptop. Very occasionally it seems to spike out of nowhere, but it doesn't repeat behaviour.
When you say crackles, do you mean CPU overload or the audio getting too hot and going into the red? There are some patches that seem to be too loud, that's always been true. In general I run Omni with its main internal fader down a bit for that reason.

I raised the GUI loading time repeatedly when Omni was first released, it's the same with Stylus RMX and Trillian; nothing has ever been done about it.
Also raised the whole "why aren't there forward/backward arrows to easily browse through the ever-growing collection of filters and FX." Was told it'd be addressed in an update, clearly it hasn't.
I think the "important" Omni users have powerful enough computers that Spectrasonics don't see lowly hobbyists requests as relevant .

The price for Omni normally doesn't reflect it as a product for hobbyist. But in any case it have to work flawlessly with the min. specs given, no question about it.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

Not getting this on my i7 MacMini - maybe it's the audio interface? I'm running it at 128 samples with my Fireface.
