For those of you who are using it, it handles midi the same way as audio right?....meaning you have midi clips you can trigger in whatever sequence you want. That would be a HUGE seller for me, as I like to use only midi for an entire arrangement before commiting to any audio. Thanks
no you don't have to be a registered user.
just click on the link above to take you to the page.
download is at the bottom.
well, the link on the first page..

It also says what serial number to use on the download page of the beta. It tells you what the serial number is

Ok I can do better than that. Here it is:

2004-5409-8843-52D5-AAEA-5DAF
Play it by ear

I was wondering one thing - the sets that we make with this beta, can we load it into Live 4.0 Final when it is released...

Post

yes you can, what you have to do is make sure you don't use the 'save live set' menu option but instead
only use the 'save Live as' option...(((only)))!!!
this is per their instructions and has enabled me to load songs into subsequent versions of the program.

hey pheeleep they even put that chord function in that we needed so badly :D

Uh
I get "beta has expired" when i download.. Does that suck or whaat? :?
Installation worked. Its version 4.0b9

Hjälp!?

There is definitely no PDC in Live 4...I was told by Ableton that it is however a priority for Live 5.

Live is great by the way! 8)

This is such as shame! I've been using the beta and it's fantastic. But my powercore Virus is out of sync. Most of the other plugins work fine though. It's going to be ages before we get version 5.

To be honest I am surprised that Ableton did not include it this time around.
:?
Although based on all the excitement generated by Live 4 maybe it is not going to be a deal breaker or showstopper as many may keep their PDC enabled host like Sonar, Tracktion or Cubase and simply rewire Live 4 into that kind of environment but make no mistake there is no PDC in Live 4.

It is still a fantastic programme. 8)

Never never never ever !!!

Logic user (and addicted) since more than a decade, and I find Live's MIDI clips fantastic - though the editing is still way to basic .... but hey, it's kind of a version 1 in regard to MIDI.

 I hope they will make it so that you can disable PDC then - otherwise Live would be quite useless for live....

I think they will probably do just that... giving Live users like me the best of both worlds! 8)

So far it's maybe my sequencer's dreams come true, but... expiring on the 20th? The day after tomorrow? For real :-o ? How are we suposed to do a serious trial? :(

A bit pricey, no  ?
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

I don't get it to be honest. Its like a spreadsheet - how do you make music with slots?

I quite like the look of all the granular sound mangling effects etc but it seems too limiting to work in this grid fashion - I'm used to just playing without sticking to a set time or beat and just recording it, then adding layers as I go on - can you do that or is it just for people that use pre-recorded samples?
