The harpsichord is often seized upon as proof of intelligent design. While other species in the musicae order are well accounted for, no common ancestor of the harpsichord can be found in the fossil record.

The harpsichord is actually descended from a cross-breed of harpies and various chordates. The latter didn't play chords, they ate them.
