Most likely renamed it, but it *is* possible that I dumped it.

Also, should we first delete the previous Hive version (after saving the presets) or is it OK to just download the new release over the old one? The first post in this thread isn't clear to me.
1) To archive presets, go into Hive' browser and right-click on the 'Local' directory - this will open an OS window so you can compress the lot.
2) If your previous version had category folders (00 User, 01 Basses etc.), please archive or delete them before installing 1.0. If your previous version had a "Factory Preview" folder, you can install the new release over the existing one. And delete "Factory Preview" whenever you like.

Think you did, unless you give its authorship to another developer or using a pseudonym.... I went thru all the HS presets to find it :-)
ok....one man's meat is another man's poison.... I think neanderthal bass was based on it perhaps.

thanks

Cheers Howard, that's clear.

Happy that Hive's volume now has a red bar when you're clipping! I didn't like it when it was all blue before.

It also may be my imagination since it's been awhile since I've done some sound-designing, but Hive seems to be a tad bit faster then I remembered? :)

Having a blast with Hive thus far. Loving the Factory presets - there are some really incredible ones in there! And, as a dance music producer, it's exactly what I've been looking for from Hive. Special shout outs (thus far) to Arksun, Aiyn, and Howard - killer presets. And I'm just getting my feet wet.

Question - How come the Mod Wheel is not able to be automated as a parameter in Ableton? Am I missing something? Or is there an easy workaround?

Fantastic synth u-he!

Post

I have the same question for mod wheel in Bitwig, can it be automated somehow?

Post

how long will the last demo of hive continue to last? Will I be able to save or open past projects?

The modwheel is just a visual representation of MIDI CC 1 data being input to the synth.

Here's a video to automate in Ableton (start at minute 2)
Feel free to call me Brian.

It is nicer to be able to automate mod wheel like any other parameter. In Dune 1 it was not possible in Dune 2 it is and that is much nicer than having to do a workaround and special thing.

But it's not a workaround - "Modulation" isn't a synth parameter like any other, it's a MIDI continuous controller like e.g. breath, expression pedal, hold pedal.
Do you mean it would be nice if the mod wheel graphic in Hive was animated?

Post

I mean it would be nice if I could use automation lanes like I can for macro knobs, since most presets already have stuff mapped to the mod wheel.

Post

Forget my wish, just saw how to do it in Bitwig, very easy if awake and look in the right place. Sorry! Hive is awesome btw well done!

Thanks for very generous intro price : ) Really enjoying Hive - sometimes I don't feel clever enough for some of t other Uhe synths but Hive sounds great and it's fun to play with. The on on board FX are incredible too. Cheers for making software!

Thanks for this, Brian.

I understand how to modulate it now, but I'm still a bit unclear as to why it doesn't work like the rest of the parameters. For instance, if you want to automate the cutoff, simply click it and it will show up in the lane in Ableton.

Is this difference because the cutoff and other knobs within Hive are "hard" parameters within the synth, whereas the ModWheel, Pitchbend, etc. are not considered parameters, but rather secondary information? I understand that there's a difference, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around why there is a difference..
