Tried to fill some holes in my CD collaction by checking out legal MP3 sites..iTunes, sonicselector etc but they all seem to need Win XP/2000 to run their software. Does anyone know of a sevice that'll run on Win 98???

http://www.allofmp3.com is a must. $0.01 per mb, you choose your encoding, large selection, free if low-bitrate previews, etc. truly outstanding!
http://www.emusic.com seems ok, but is limited to modrate bitrates and a rather small selection. but you get 50 free mp3s, so it's worth checking out.
don't forget music.download.com -- nothing by known artists, but there are a few gems in there; plus, it's totally free.
sony connect (http://www.connect.com?) is total shit, but it works with 98. do not go there. throw away that free music code on the big mac box. low bitrates (132!), proprietary mp3s which only run on their bloated proprietary software, and so forth. truly bletcherous.
there's probably others, but this should get you going.

I'm using Win 98 cos a) I'm too tight to upgrade
b) It's really solid c) Its so old its virtually virus proof
