CopperLan vs KissBox vs BomeBox

Need a way to get away from midi drivers, unsupportable Opcode and Emagic interfaces etc...
Anyone have experience comparing these to use midi with everything? :

sorry not to have answered before, but I only discovered your post right now. Here are some interesting information about RTP-MIDI:

1) RTP-MIDI products does not necessarily need drivers. For example, the Max/MSP objects and the VSTizer plugins do not need *any* driver to run. The reason is very simple: RTP-MIDI is based on open IP protocols, and anybody can write an IP application

2) You will need drivers only if you want the RTP-MIDI ports to appear as "standard MIDI ports" for the operating system (so any DAW or sequencer can use them, without knowing they are RTP-MIDI ports)

3) RTP-MIDI is natively included within iOS (since 4.2) and OS-X (since 10.4). So you do not need to install any driver on Mac and iPad/iPhone (and the driver is maintained by Apple, so no need for any external manufacturer dedicated driver)

4) On Windows, there is a very good free driver called rtpMIDI, which is considered as "the" driver (it's free, working like a charm and has the same user interface as the Apple one )

As you can see, there is a growing pressure to have RTP-MIDI becoming a part of Win10 (as it is for OS-X since a long time). So you can expect sooner or later a standard RTP-MIDI driver (like the USB one for class compliant) on this platform too.

I can give an endorsement for CopperLan. I use it as the virtual MIDI across my network of 5 DAW workstations all remotely controlled by my quad AMD processor laptop. I use an internal MIDI cable (LoopBe30) which dumps Sibelius notation program playback out onto the CopperLan virtual MIDI network. Presonus Studio One sequencer picks up on the MIDI being issued from Sibelius and pumps it to remote hosts that have Kontakt player running with the samples. The networking software for this Audioport from AudioImpressions. It routes the resulting audio back to my laptop's external sound card (with full stereo separation for each individual instrument of an entire symphony orchestra , I might add, so that VST processing in Studio One can do all sorts of tricks like stereo spatialization and instrument-by-instrument reverb sculpting).

This setup makes mincemeat out of ReWire.
