Hi all,
We've produced and uploaded a comprehensive video tutorial series for Hive:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... pL7cE6jxMP
10 vids explaining all aspects of Hive in depth!
Also, if you haven't made up your mind yet and if you might change it, or if you just want to benefit from the introduction offer, or if you haven't received our newsletter of if you for what ever missed it but you didn't want to miss it, Hive for 99$ ends in about 18 hours, then becomes 149$ - because Hive will be officially released tomorrow noon Berlin time also through our resellers.
Enjoy,
- Urs

Chrome has blocked it as malware, but I decided to keep this malware
Just curious if anything has changed since the last time I tried the demo months ago
The gloomy interface is still the same, obviously
From the manual: "Please note that PWM only works with the Pulse wave, and only for the entire oscillator i.e. not separately for the main and sub oscillators."
Does that mean that pulse is created like on Sylenth, where it also occupies an entire layer (i.e. two oscillators)?

No, you can still have a different waveform for the sub-oscillator.
You can also adjust the brightness of the GUI in the Preferences panel, as well as opt for an orange variant of the GUI instead of blue.

Yes, just discovered that display option, the orange looks so much friendlier
Funny that the gammy thingy goes neutral -> dark -> darker. To me dark should be darker than darker, unless darker is called even darker

With those drop-down menus for envelopes, filters, lfo's etc. the currently chosen option is not checked, nor does is say the number in the value display when clicking on the drop-down arrow.
I miss an lfo (and vibrato) delay knob, I miss it in Sylenth as well.
But it is a great, very complete synth, by far my favorite one from U-he so far.

On OS X, we're still building for 10.5, but pre-selected menu entries came to cocoa in 10.6 (I kid you not)fluffy_little_something wrote:With those drop-down menus for envelopes, filters, lfo's etc. the currently chosen option is not checked, nor does is say the number in the value display when clicking on the drop-down arrow.
Vibrato has delay - for the other LFOs we might add it later, it's been requested rather often.I miss an lfo (and vibrato) delay knob, I miss it in Sylenth as well.

Seems the effects are not as economic as the synth as such, some of the presets using several effects cause quite some crackling on my computer
On lower octaves there there still is some blip kind of sound in mono mode when playing trills, regardless of attack and release time, it probably has to do with voice stealing (reduce cutoff to make it more audible, and use headphones). It is the same with Saurus and most other synths I know, except Sylenth.

Time to upgrade the computer, then?
Even with a bunch of FX Hive is very good on CPU over here.

Nah, I certainly won't buy a new computer just because of music, I am not a professional, anyway...EvilDragon wrote:Time to upgrade the computer, then?

What I find strange is that when turning effects on (i.e. the circle symbol is lit), it says off in the value display, and vice versa...
The demo noise is pretty frequent and long, a bit irritating, frankly...

it's out...nice (i just realized it's june 2 in europe, still jun 1 in ny). dl'd, and exploring now, very cool...
EDIT: lol, too many sounds (never thought i'd say that). love that (as in zebra2) i can use up/down keys (and left/right) to scroll thru sounds.
the honeycomb skin is suitably terryfying/cool. and nice to be able to resize it (90% looks perfect on my 13" macbook pro).
great, great synth, and glad to see it out of beta.
