Hi,
It is now on sale and I've tried the demo several months ago with love. However, I still couldn't find a way to init a patch. So, I am seeking the existing users' advise if there is a workaround ?
Cheers!

There is no init function but there is an init patch somewhere on the Internet. I don't remember the download link. Just go to Google and type in ImpOSCar 2 init patch and it should come up. If not, let me know and I'll upload mine to Dropbox and you can download it.cowby wrote:Hi,

If I'm not mistaken then there is an init bank included with Imposcar2. I'm not at my DAW currently so can't verify for sure.

I wondered that too, when I got my copy a few years back. I think it's a very strange omission on any synth , but even more so - especially one that is not quite so conventional to program.cowby wrote:Hi,

Best thing to do is pick a very basic patch and work backwards from there. So you won't be too many steps away from an init then save it.

There is no need to do that. There is an init patch out there.Robmobius wrote:I wondered that too, when I got my copy a few years back. I think it's a very strange omission on any synth , but even more so - especially one that is not quite so conventional to program.cowby wrote:Hi,

No problem. It's a great synth that was sorely lacking an init. The developer said nobody asked for one so he didn't make one.Robmobius wrote:

Ha! That seems bizarre, because it takes a while to get your head around it. Dev was probably living in programing land and forgot about us.wagtunes wrote:No problem. It's a great synth that was sorely lacking an init. The developer said nobody asked for one so he didn't make one.Robmobius wrote:

But I totally agree with you, it's a cracking synth. For bass and pads it's absolutely amazing (love the unison). Yet, it still has it's own character too.

Well, the synth it was designed after was, IMO, one of the greatest analog hardware synths ever made, the Oscar. I think it blew the minimooog out of the water as far as sound went. When I saw this was a soft synth, my eyes almost bugged out of my head.Robmobius wrote:Ha! That seems bizarre, because it takes a while to get your head around it. erm, the Oscar was a hybrid digital/analog hardware synth.wagtunes wrote:Well, the synth it was designed after was, IMO, one of the greatest analog hardware synths ever made, the Oscar.
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Yes, it was a hybrid. For me, it was all analog in sound.

Anyway, back to the topic. Yes, OSCar was a hybrid synth with a distinctly analog sound, most likely because of the analog filters. I never got to own one because nobody in our area sold them and there was no Internet in 1983. So I'm very grateful that GForce came out with the soft synth.
But yeah, no init function certainly did have me scratching my head.

I love my impOscar 2.. One of my favourite sounding synths, especially for pads.
Not that I am aware there are outstanding bugs, I just find its development stagnant. Maybe u-he and Spectrasonics have spoiled me. But I don't recall any new features or improvements in the years I have owned it.
Even something simple as favourites or rating presets which imho would be really nice to have.

Well, it's only gonna be 4 years this July since it came out so give them time. I'm sure they'll have something relatively soon. And if not, it's still a great synth just the way it is.zvenx wrote:I love my impOscar 2.. One of my favourite sounding synths, especially for pads.
