Here's a great deal for $149.

I would rather upgrade to the platinum version of SSD4 (and get the Blackbird thrown in for free for some added early Ringo sounds,) at this amazing price, rather then constantly be buying expensive ad pacs from XLN and Toontracks that to my ears, don't sound as good.

It has maps for all your existing midi built right in.

You can even create a path for all your existing non-XLN midi collections, including Toontracks, GM, and much more, to SSD4's file browser by adding .sng and .prt to the ends of the folder names that lead to your massive midi files.

It's easy!

What more do you want?

I have SSD4 with the Blackbird kit and I agree, SSD drums sound great. However, I wouldn't say that the Toontrack packs don't sound as good - the Nashville and Indie Folk ones sound especially unique and great. Plus, there's even more variety (like the Latin expansion, Hip Hop, etc.). Eagerly awaiting SSD5. Heard great things about BFD3 as well, but not sure it is that much different than SSD4 from a sound perspective. Another option would be for me to upgrade up to Superior 2.0 for more tweakability.

It requires iLok, so I would want it to use a less intrusive system for copy protection before I would even consider it.
SSD4 doesn't require ilok. Not sure where you got that from.

From: http://www.stevenslatedrums.com/products/platinum/

"SSD has it's own proprietary licensing system, and does not require an iLok"

Just drop a license file into the proper directory.

yeah, I was just looking at that earlier because it said the $149 bundle offer also applies to Trigger and I was thinking if I bought Trigger, I might be able to use the full Platinum library with my existing SSD Custom as well, then I noticed it required iLok. oh well.

To be honest. I haven't had an EZ, or Superior Demo on my machine for many years now. I''ll have to try the latest demo.

SSD4 Platinum seams like a cool upgrade for me though because it's like buying AD2 or EZ with most of the ad paks included at no extra charge. Like;

Jazz w/sticks
Jazz w/ brushes
Metal w/triggers
Electronic kits
Small kits, large kits
Vintage, modern....

SSD4 Platinum comes with all these out of the box. You would pay many hundreds of dollars more for them from XLN and the like. Even at the current summer sell prices.

Also, turns out you can get this current SSD4 or Trigger summer sell bundle w/ what ever expansion you choose. Not just Blackbird.

May I suggest the CCL expansion.
Great Nine Iron!
Works on about 85% of everything I throw at it.

Wow - neck and neck. Not what I had expected!

I spent some more time with EZD2 and the AD2 demo - EZD2 wins it for me I think. The Song Creator with the drag-n-drop MIDI into Tap 2 Find is so killer. Might look into SD2 to beef up the EZD2 sounds once I have the beat.

Soooo tempting ....am I alone here with these continuing AD2 CPU issues? Seems most of you prefer EZ anyway.
I think the upgrade only gives you the AD2 engine and no actual kits, if I'm not mistaken.

They have a deal of AD2 that includes the 2 Fairfax and Black Velvet adpaks all in one. The site says $250, but I've seen other places have it for $200, which means the %50 off sale right now would give all that to you fro $100. Pretty good.

I believe the prices on the XLN site are not reflecting the 50% discount. I Think you need to add the $129.95 upgrade+adPak of your choice, or $79.95 (engine.... new gui...) to your cart and enter promo code XLN10. Then the prices get cut in half to roughly $65 or $40 ....Something like that?
