I love checking out demo songs made by manufacturers to demonstrate the sounds of their products. They are almost always from good to excellent.
What are some of your favorite manufacturer's demo songs?
Off the top of my head, here are a few that I like:
Friday Evening (Waldorf)
Schloss Ahrenthal (Waldorf)
Viva Synth1 (Synth 1)
Odd Machines (Odo Synths)
Puls8 (Creamware Pulsar)
impOSCar (impOSCar)

The multimode demo song in the Roland JD-800 has that special make-you-happy summer feeling....

The demo song for the Waldorf PPG was very cool indeed, placing it solidly in the 80s. I still play that on my MP3 list. I could never figure out the interface though, so I never bought it.
The Halion jazz number was the reason I bought Halion. What a fool I was.
Spectrasonics' demos are really good: Diego Stocco's "Angels" for Atmosphere, and "nitelife" for Stylus. Never regretted buying the three SS instruments. They are now my most essential pieces of kit.

There was this demo song from one of the consumer Yamaha PSR series that was this really cool Middle Eastern/electronica type song. Does anyone actually have that Yamaha PSR keyboard and know what I'm talking about? This was back around 1998.

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

Got one of those mid-range PSRs packed away some place. Will try to excavate it and see if I can figure which one you mean. Given my equipment clutter level, it won't be today, sorry. :-SLunatique wrote:There was this demo song from one of the consumer Yamaha PSR series that was this really cool Middle Eastern/electronica type song. I recall the cartridge that came with it had a rendition of "A-Train" that definitely sounded sequenced but better than I'd have expected for such a cheap keyboard...

Credit to those who make an effort when making demoes, I appreciate it. Even if I may not necessarily buy the product, I listen to the songs anyway...
A few of my favorites:
- The mentioned "Imposcar" is very good, yes (no songwriter credited on the webpage, a shame), http://www.gmediamusic.com/
- Mtron "Tape banks vol III 02" by Putte, very beautiful, http://www.gmediamusic.com/gforce/m-tro ... index.html
- Spectrasonics Trilogy (the one product of these I own, by the way...), "Join the party!" by Tobias Marberger, very funky,
http://www.spectrasonics.net/instrument ... demos.html
- "CS80-V medley" by Mitsuru Sakaue and "Winterhat" by Matthew Tyas for the Arturia CS-80V, http://www.arturia.com/en/cssamplesongs.lasso
- "Zebra escapes the lion" by vae, for the Zebra VST (hopefully soon for PC...), http://www.u-he.com/zebra/index.php?item=listen
- Right now I listen a lot to the "Ultra focus demo #2", a demo by B. Henriot. Makes the UF sound very inviting, http://www.univers-sons.com/us2K/exec/p ... ULTRAFOCUS
- Last, but not least, the funniest of them all, "S.I.D. surprise!", by Stefan Kengen for the Scarbee Imperial drums, http://www.scarbee.com/demos/sid_demos.php

The demo song for the 12string factory floppy disk that shipped with the Ensoniq EPS16+. Listened to it at my local dealer, bought the machine a minute later. That was 1990, and it's still my most favourite instrument.
