I wonder why the Decay knob isn't doing anything....can anyone shed some light?

The Big Ambience Gate preset uses the Ambience algorithm, with the Attack set to 0%. In the Ambience mode, the Attack knob controls the crossfade between early reflections and late reverb. So, in order to hear the decay, just set the Attack knob to a value >0%.
The Nonlin mode is a great choice for gated reverbs. In this mode, the Decay knob has no effect, as it sounded REALLY REALLY BAD to have longer reverbs with this mode.

Sean thanks a lot, that makes sense now.
This is why I wish there was a manual though. On the website it says the plugins are self documenting, but it seems like a lot of this information is not published anywhere...and it would be really useful!
