three things to note here:
1. the low frequency on SPAN looks very high
2. the peak signal on the right is high
3. the wave form in s(m)exoscope is clearly above the line - and it has taken the kick with it.

Here is the same sound (ish) when corrected:

:)
A dcfixer seems to be nothing more than a high pass filter, some of the renoise devs wrote. I read that dcoffset mostly comes from a very low frequency (that actually seems to be present here) and can be also fixed by using a high pass filter.

So maybe add a hpfilter at the first insert slot of every instance, first (or dcoffset device in Renoise)?

EDIT:
xenobioz wrote: Also you might add a 1 pole hp,the last module. If the last module is amp the put it before the amp. Then you will not get any DC. You can even set the pitch 0 I think and, it will still remove the DC.
But why as last module? Wouldn't an early dc offset already mess up some dsp processing? Or doesn't it matter?
If it's the last module then it's sure to remove any DC in the plugin. But if he knows where the problem is then he can put it immediately after that module.

Oh ok, did not understand you, but now. My perspective was from DAW user view like Renoise, not from the dev himself.

Oh dear...this thing is driving me nuts. Here's my first little test with it, but it's just a test...

Really feels like having both hands tied behind my back, trying to make a sound with this thing. :ud:

Hi folks, first post here on KVR even if I have been reading you guys for at least a pair of years, I discovered some time ago this competition and this month I will be glad to partecipate but I didn't understand if external midi plugins are allowed, I ask you this because I have a NI kore 2 based setup and I usually load virtual instrument not directly inside my DAW (reaper) but in kore, even if often I do not use Koresounds at all, and obviously I do not mean to use them the competition, but the program itself is really helpful for automations, preset morphing, arpeggios and short sequences, I cannot live without it. Do you think I am allowed to use it, since it doesn't effect audio directly? Thank you guys.

Better we discuss this in the general thread.

thats out of the contest, because i had to use grain delays, chorus and LFO modulated reverbs.
(the chorus sucked in the synth and also the pitch modulation, so i used external pitch, which disqualifies me!)

8 mantra evo
5x3 utilities = 15 utilities
6 LFOs
5 simple delays
6 reverbs
4 grain delays
4 chorus
7 EQ8
1 Limited
1 Compressor
1 overdrive
1 dynamic Tube

no other 3rd party plugin used and presets from scratch.

its again a drone:

...hmm...but using midi to modulate parameters like cutoff should be ok, right? I mean...it's still the synth as only source of sound. You scare me a little when saying that pitch modulation would be a problem, especially considering the massive pitch bend it has. :|

i modulated the pitch with grain delay from outside, because it was not possible in the synth for me in a short amount of time.

cutoff modulation with external filter and also internal filter is no problem.

here are the rules if you are not sure: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/rules

or ask here.

Pitch bend should be OK, as it doesn't alter the sound of the synth. External pitch modulation does alter the sound, it basically samples it and plays it back at another pitch. That's why these are not allowed.

Post

:phew: yeah...so, nothing has changed in the rules, phewww...I've read them again, too, and it's all good. Yeah, I totally understand and totally agree.
There is a minor slippery slope with some automation, because this synth is a virtual heap of garbage and its internal modulation is extremely "challenged", but with an external "envelope like" animation some of those short-comings can be remedied. It does not alter the sound itself, but it does alter the nature of the synth's abilities, so to say.
But, in all fairness, this is just a healthy way of using a very sick vst, hahaha... :dog:  :P

I can't help but thinking that this particular OSC is just a belated April Fools joke on the whole community.

Because nobody can be serious about this...thing.

To the person who picked the synth. Ha, ha. Very funny.

Hey I cannot see your track on soundcloud or add comments? Rights not setup right or something? Very nice drums, love this kind of mix of bass and kick in one :phones:

EDIT: Ok, I see, its just a test, not a final one...

the basic sounds i found are good for drone, but the chorus sucks and the pitch modulation too. :dog:
the morphing stuff is really good done.

@taron enjoyed track too, it has a nice 80s feeling, keep going you are on a good way.

Ahaha, thanks! Oh, the track I'm making right now is T O T A L L Y different, haha... it'll be called "Dark Mantroll" and is very weird, almost experimental, but still melodic here and there.

Also: ALL modulations suck in this synth...even the envelopes suck, like I didn't know envelopes could suck that much, haha. Stunning. But at the same time, I'm kind of going for a really curious sound with it...reminds me to ancient limitations and what to make of them. So, yeah, I still hate the very guts of this synth, but I can't say I hate the weird ass song I'm making with it right now, haha...funny.

You seem to be having an awful lot of fun with this sucky synth.

Or is that just the drugs?
