Hmmm interesting. The same patch, same three notes shows 16.8% on Reaper's CPU meter and the Windows Monitor shows 17%. So it appears Reaper's monitor is pretty dead accurate.

Just a rough reading of the Tracktion meter, not compared it to any system readout (I'm on Mac btw)Teksonik wrote:That's a powerful CPU. My studio computer is an i7 3.0 but I haven't installed WS8 on it yet. This machine which I'm using for testing is a Quad Core Q6600. It's an older CPU and I think it probably represents the low end of CPUs that potential WS8 users might have...........aMUSEd wrote:2.7ghz i7Teksonik wrote:What is the CPU on your test machine ?aMUSEd wrote:OK it's using about 40% for me with oversampling off, 2x moves it to 50-60%, anything higher is unusable
Are your test numbers from your DAW's CPU meter or from Windows Task Manager resource monitor ?

Does the Mac have something like the Windows CPU Monitor ? I'm going to use Reaper for any reported CPU readouts from now since it seems to match the windows meter pretty accurately but I still want to test the Beta in all the DAWs I own.......aMUSEd wrote: Just a rough reading of the Tracktion meter, not compared it to any system readout (I'm on Mac btw)

Tomorrow I will start working on a big code update which will bring CPU usage down.
Is a mistake a did with the code that needs fixing now, but it does take some time to do.
But it will be great in the end.

Hi!
Maybe this issue is already posted here - sorry if in case, but many of the presets from V7 sound "out of tune" in V8. In many cases, one layer or more layers are tuned one or more semitones lower / higher in V8 than in V7.
Some examples:
ArtveraMISTRAL: DzumbaVK - layer1 VK-kahira and layer3 VK-Fluteano;
Artvera NewAgeCollection: KEY-BassOrgan - layer1 -1, btw. send effects 1 is empty (in V7 lite verb);
OrchestralLite: Choir Aahs Triple - layer3 -1s;
Small Emulator: MatrixMix - layer1 +20, layer 2 +20, layer 3 +19;
ElektroWusik: DirtyPercussiveLayer(BB) - layer2 -1, btw. Fx2 (StereoDelay) Send = 0dB for both layers;
VSResurrection: PAD-Afterglow(tas) - layer1 -1.
Interesting:
If I turn the semintone knobs a little bit for those layers which sound one semitone lower, this layers are then in tune with the other layers.
Greetings, Robert

Got it, I will fix this asap. Still working on the big engine optimization code. So far a big drop in cpu usage.

Ok, fixed the tune problem, was a silly thing, sorry about that.
Now, I'm uploading the beta 38, which has a BIG change, lower CPU usage too. I removed the over-sample menu option for NOW, as I'm redoing it. Tomorrow I should have it back. But at least you guys can test things out. There are some missing code for the Unison and Parallel Filter processing, I will handle that ASAP. But at least CPU usage is way down now...
Uploading Windows and MAC, public and private files now...
Cheers, WilliamK

Hello William,
I had noticed some of my presets sounding strange as well. That seems to fixed now...
I will start going through and converting them to V8 over the next few days and see what happens....

Just downloaded Beta 38. I won't be able to give it a go today but I'll install it first thing in the morning. Since the installer didn't work on Win XP 32 bit a few versions ago I've just been replacing the .dll with each new beta. Is there anything in the Data folders that's new or can I just keep replacing the .dlls ?
