The whole "lemon > lemonade" thing sort of comes to mind. In this case it may be "pisspot > pot"?

Some of us are taking this synth seriously.

I know it does not do many of the things we have come to expect very well...

but I for one have been waiting for the opportunity to do something which this synth can do very well, which others could not!

Just watch this space (might be a while though)

Pfff, I'm at 25 instances of this thing now and I'm amazed that my system can still handle them, but MuLab is quite a trooper for sure. Everytime I add a new instance I'm getting more worried, though, hahaha, and I keep wanting to add more.

Hi, i have been listening to a lot of great entries for this OSC from the guys at the Renoise forum and i have considered for a long time to join in on the fun.
Now i think i understood the rules, but just to make it clear: I can not use external fx like chorus VSTs etc., but if the DAW i'm using has a chorus DSP i can use that?

The rules appear to say no to any pitch changing effects, regardless where from. That includes Chorus as well as pitched delays or the likes. You can use compression, EQing, delays, reverbs, but it's about preserving the integrity of the synth's sound. Some EQ can go pretty intense, though, but I think that's apparently fine.

Ah ok, what confused me is that it talks about external plugins and then added that DSP's where fine.
It makes much more sense, it's a one synth challenge after all.

You're more than welcome! It's only my 2nd OSC and I certainly can't be considered an expert, but before you start off on the wrong foot, I felt obligated to help out!

I keep hearing "Renoise", which is a tracker style app, right!? I'm kinda happy I don't have to use those anymore, hahaha, but well... ...all this talk does make me curious.

I feel that Renoise is a tad bit more than that, but it's a tracker yes. Let's put it in their own words:

I'm enjoying working with this synth. It's very different and challenging, but it can generate a LOT of really cool sounds. My hat's off to its creator.
