I was reading about Telefon Tel Aviv's production gear and they mentioned this synth. I looked it up and thought it sounded pretty cool.

Unfortunately it has been discontinued. Is there anyway to get my hands on it or something similar? Is there a successor or something available in Max?

I found a forum post saying that they planned to release them in some way, did that come to pass? https://cycling74.com/forums/topic/rele ... uggo-code/

Pluggo Windows Version 3.6.1 includes the demo of PGS-1. I don't have it installed now and can't remember what the demo limitations are. Anyway, it's here;

Thanks bob. I should have mentioned that I saw that but I can't get a license to use that. Also comes with some annoying PACE protection stuff that doesn't seem to be working anymore. Since the guy in the vid said it was free I was hoping it could be floating around out there. But sometimes even freebies require registration so I guess not. I do have the vst on my system though now, so maybe I can figure something out.

He says that the Pluggo bundle (incl PGS-1) is free from the Max website, meaning that you need Max or Max4Live (or something like that) to be able to use it.

Max costs $399: https://auth.cycling74.com/purchase

A bit much to pay to get a free plugin.

Are you sure about that? AFAIK you can run Pluggo without Max ...

But then you need to buy a license, and as the product is discontinued since 2009, might not be so easy to obtain now...

The video that the OP posted, refers to the free version of PGS-1 which is included with Max

Thanks for the info. I only know a bit about max, but if something is available in max format, does that mean you can open it up and see the algorithm? Or is a module like that likely to be locked? If it's not locked maybe I could use the max demo to get a look at it and then rebuild it.

Maybe you need the Max Runtime which is free?

For Live 9 Suite i got the Pluggo Bundle for Max 4 Live:
https://www.ableton.com/de/packs/max-live-pluggo-live/

This bundle includes 7 instruments and alot of effects but i did not find teh PGS-1 plugin mentioned here.
Analog synths included with this bundle are "Bassline" and "Laverne".
None of them has 3 Oscs or a dual filter like PGS-1.

Yes they seem to have left out a lot of the synths, maybe they thought they were all a bit too basic? I would have liked to see white grains included but it's probably covered by other devices

Correct. Pluggo did not require a MAX/MSP license, it was a separately-licensed product, as were its siblings Hipno, Mode etc.

The Pluggo plugin set (and siblings) relied on the free Pluggo runtime being installed, which is similar to the MAX/MSP runtime which allowed MAX patches to run standalone on systems without a licensed version of MAX/MSP, except it allowed specially-built (ie Pluggo conformant) MAX patches to run as plugins without a licensed version of MAX/MSP or Pluggo being needed.

Other plugins which relied on the Pluggo runtime were released by third parties; some were commercial, some free.

There was a demo version of Pluggo, but I cant remember what was in it. I dont think PGS-1 was, I could be wrong.

FWIW, the Pluggo runtime is incompatible with later versions of the MAX/MSP runtime (V5 and later?) meaning it has issues with Max4Live.

(An aside; one of the interesting things about Pluggo was that all the plugins had an internal 'background' system for modulation and control between plugins, meaning you could get one to modulate another. Meant you could treat it a bit like a modular system. That got dropped when it went to M4L, I think.)

This thread makes me realise I really should get around to rebuilding my old XP system and throwing Pluggo etc on it.

PGS-1 was never released as a max version. Download the Pluggo Windows Version 3.6.1 which includes the demo of PGS-1. https://cycling74.com/downloads/discontinued/

Just install the plugins wherever you want and the pluggo runtime will install itself in the correct place. No copy protection, no authorisation, no dongles.
Discontinued, so no purchase available. Demo plugins emit a (not unpleasant) sound about once a minute.
There are 20 synths and 89 effects. Most of the plugins are demos but it does include the free ones that come with pluggojnr. Works in WIn7.

Of course once you have pluggo runtime installed there are other pluggo plugins available. I particularly like pyjaman's pluggos. http://pjmnc.free.fr/

I'm on OSX 10.10 and it's not working for me.

It does install some copy protection stuff - "Copy Protection -
In addition to installing Pluggo, the installer adds Pace's Interlok software necessary for Pluggo's copy protection to your system."

I get an installation failure message near the end of the installation - "The following step failed: run postflight script for interlock extensions."

The plugs and some other stuff are on my system though. But when Bitwig scans the folder, I get an error - "Required software extensions are missing - Click on the ok button and you will be transfered to the PACE website where an installer can be downloaded."

Ok takes me here, a 404: https://www.ilok.com/iloklicensemanager.html

Not really a surprise. The last version of Pluggo is 9 years old, and Apple have broken backwards-compatibility for all sorts of stuff multiple times over since then.

Alright well, again thanks for the info everyone. Looks like I could probably only ever get it running as a demo anyway so I've lost interest.
