The OPs post is a little misleading.
It is still $99 but you get a $50 voucher that can be applied to that or anything.
Which means you can currently get it for $50... So nothing misleading about the OP's post.

I bought Codex a while ago for something like £30 used (I can't remember exactly how much now, but it was very cheap), and I am very pleased with it indeed - loads of fantastic presets, and I also found Serum's presets to be 'harsh', which I put down to the presets themselves, not Serum. But at $50 Codex is definitely worth buying, it has a load of presets and they are almost all excellent, very usable.

If you already used your Waves code, it is misleading

I think more (and better) filters, more matrix pages, and a bit more effort in regards to the effects section would make Codex 2 quite satisfactory for me. As it is, I won't be selling this synth, what is good about it is well worth holding onto imo.
Ha ha suck it!

Tried to demo Codex.

For some reason Codex won't open in my DAW, crashes constantly my Live 9 always when launching the plugin. Tried also Live 8, same result.

I have the latest ver. 9 Wave shell and Live versions. About 50 other Waves plugs, all working well, all other demos, too. OS Win 8.1.

Wonder if there's something special to take account with Codex?

Have you tried to load the waveshell as VST3 plugin ?

Oh, I see. Well, I'm sure most people who haven't got Codex haven't got any Waves stuff either (I haven't, and Codex is the first thing they've ever made that I was interested in).

:?

Waves isn't really known for synths, they produce effects for the most part.

They got two synths Element and Codex, otherwise it is all effects.

How do you do that? As far as I know, Live 9 won't support vst3. And there's just one Win release of the v9r28 (latest) in the Waves site.

I got troubles with the wave shell in the past. Plugins wouldn't load or show up etc

It was when I opened the waveshell as VST3 in FL Studio, I was able to open the plug.

Just today I installed Kramer Guitar Channel, tried to open it in the regular VST2 waveshell, it didn't even show up there. Had to go to the VST3 wrapper to find it.

Unfortunately Live doesn't support VST3 as of yet: https://www.ableton.com/answers/live-9-vst-3-support

I never had any troubles with wave shells, before this. I wonder if the Codex coding includes something which crashes either Win 8.1 (or even is incompatible with some hardware)?

Put a request also to Waves, but unfortunately the present "support" has been rather unreliable lately, lets see.

Codex is great, not as advanced as Serum, but the excellent presets certainly have a warmer sound. I think Waves' circuit modelling is the reason for that. Definately worth grabbing for $49 with the voucher...although personally I steer clear of Waves while they operate WUP.

Have sold Codex recently (as i do hav many other wavetzable synths...) but still got Element which runs nicely in both Live 9.1.10 64-bit and Cubase Pro 8.0.20 64-bit.

Anyway due to the sale i just tested a few Waves FX plugins like e.g. Bass Rider, API 550 EQ, Scheps 73 EQ and NS-1 Noise suppressor and found that while they run nicely as a VST3 in Cubase Pro 8 i do not see any of those FX plugins in Live 9.1.10 64-bit (while Element runs nicely there...).

Reply from Waves support was that the y officially only support Live unti v9.1.8. So does it mean the plugins do not run with later versions? If that is correct it is a real bummer for me.

BTW same problem in Reaper 4.78 64-bit. Only Element apeears as a plugin there.

FWIW i have my 64-bit VST2 plugins folder at C:\VSTPLUGINS and not at C:\Program Files\VSTPLUGINS (on windows 7 64-bit). If that would be the problem why does Element work properly then?

This in new to me, Waves nor Ableton have ever hinted to this incompaibility in their support, so far.

I wonder why there aren't more discussion of this. If some Waves plugins won't work at all in the Live, it must touch several 100 of people.

This is quite crazy, as far as I know Live is one of the most used DAWs, obviously serious vendors need to support such DAWs all the way.

Does users really need to read the fine print before buying from Waves? :help:
