"Given that this is the first time we've introduced additional products to the RX family of products, (which now includes RX 4, RX Final Mix, and RX Loudness Control), I completely understand the mixed reaction among those of you used to there being a single product under the RX umbrella, and those of you excited to get your hands on these features as soon as possible."
Maybe its me being dyslexic (don't laugh, I am!) but can someone (matthines perhaps) please let me know what RX, an Audio repair tool with post processing capabilities, is doing with family add ons named "Final Mix" and "Loudness Control"?????
It seems to me that Izotope are so up their product portfolio arse that they can not see the wood for the trees....But we can!
Izotope, do yourselves a favour and bundle both Final Mix AND Loudness Control with OZONE 6 as a free update, maybe, just maybe you will begin to win back favour with what customer base you still have.
By the way, for transparency, I own Ozone adv 5 amongst other Izotope software, most of which I am now selling because I am scared that in a couple of months time, the software will carry NO resale value at all!!
Think about that for a second!

Hi Zabrilla,
I'd be happy to let you know! I certainly appreciate the confusion. Our products are split into two main product lines, music production and post production.
Music production products include Ozone 6 (mastering), Nectar 2 (vocal mixing), Alloy 2 (mixing) and more.
Post production products include RX 4 (editing), RX Final Mix (mixing) and RX Loudness Control (delivery).
I represent the post production team, so I'm happy to offer some more transparency on what we're up to. You're absolutely correct that RX 4 is a post processing tool, dedicated to audio repair (and enhancement). It was our post production users themselves who began asking us for new products, under the RX umbrella, with a dedicated focus (in terms of features) on other parts of their workflow, beyond audio repair and enhancement. That's how RX Final Mix and RX Loudness Control came to be.
Music products built for musicians, post products built for audio post engineers. Given that we're all creatives, there will inevitably be crossovers... I'm primarily, professionally, in post production, but when mixing my band's EP, I use and love the Nectar 2 reverb on drum as well as vocal tracks for example. And where one person may currently denoise a guitar track in RX 4, another may denoise a feature film dialogue track. But I hope that gives you more insight into what we're passionate about, what we're working on, and how everything breaks down. Sometimes iZotope will add a user requested feature (the free Tube Limiter update to Ozone 6), other times iZotope will build a brand new user requested product (RX Final Mix).
I apologize if this wasn't clear enough thus far. I hope to take your feedback and address it over the coming months with a lot more clarity and transparency about our product plans, which are, after all, driven entirely by user request. Please keep any questions about the RX family of products coming, I'd be happy to represent.
Kind Regards,
Matt

You “appreciate the confusion“ - LOLI certainly appreciate the confusion
Your conception of transpareny = marketing talk, a 1000 words to say nothing at all, please give us a break.

The "confusion" that you are appreciating is certainly NOT coming from the side of your customers or potential customers.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Thanks for the reply Matt.
But in my opinion, the only reason you would ever use Final Mix and Level Control after Mastering (unless you work as an engineer in the BBC or Radio yada yada (probably not your target market) is because mistakes have been made in the creative process so far!
Would that be fair to say? In which case would it not be of more benefit to us as home engineers and bedroom producers, to have access to those particular tools earlier on in the process?
I.E. bundled with Ozone and not RX
ps: If you got feedback from RX customers, how come you didn't just tell them to go out and buy Ozone? Not that I am splitting users in to a them and us camp, but I am willing to bet there are more Ozone users than RX, no?

Ok so please remove Final Mix and Loudness Control from sale and bundle them with Ozone.
Thats my request, as a user of Ozone 5.

I keep reading in your (iZotope) statements that it was "our users" to justify the options in Ozone 6, Iris 2, and now the creation of a new line of post-production tools under the RX umbrella. Yet, I keep reading angry posts form lots of iZotope (and already former iZotope) users stating exactly the opposite, hardly disagreeing with your options, and none applauding them whatsoever. So, please enlighten us: How many of your allegded "users" exactly asked you for these "new" products? One? Five? A thousand? More?matthines wrote: Music production products include Ozone 6 (mastering), Nectar 2 (vocal mixing), Alloy 2 (mixing) and more.

From my part, I also agree that these tools belong to Ozone, not to RX, and frankly, I don't think any user care if the product is named RX something or Ozone, as long as it gets the job done, and much less of it is for "production" or "post-production".

Did they ask for *new* products, or enhancements to existing products? What happened to .point upgrades Izotope?matthines wrote:It was our post production users themselves who began asking us for new products, under the RX umbrella, with a dedicated focus (in terms of features) on other parts of their workflow, beyond audio repair and enhancement. PS If I hear the phrase, much favoured by Brad too, "...to reach out to you…" one more time I'm going to vomit.

What VST alternatives to Izotope RX are there that you guys can recommend to a disappointed Izotope customer?bmanic wrote:I've given up long time ago on iZotope. Too bad we already invested in RX advanced but there's no way they'll be seeing any more money from us. Luckily there are alternatives for most of their products.

There's the Wave Arts Master Restoration suite, and Acon digital has a suite as well. But I've found that doing restoration tasks works much better offline. And for that, I've found nothing that compares to RX.klagga wrote:What VST alternatives to Izotope RX are there that you guys can recommend to a disappointed Izotope customer?bmanic wrote:I've given up long time ago on iZotope. I dropped Adobe Audition for RX, and it's been a great decision for me.
I totally understand the disappointment that people have had with iZotope. But I think it's best to evaluate what they produce, decide whether or not it works for you, act on that decision, and move on.

Only chiming in to say that I, too, have shelled out a small fortune to IZotope, including for RX, and this was the very LAST INSULT in regard to their update/upgrade pricing scams.
When I saw this loudness control and the other addition, offered as separates and not part of the package my heart sank and my purse went and hid under the bed.
From here on out I am no longer updating, upgrading or buying any more product from iZotope. Sorry boys, but I'm done being pilfered and abused by your attempts to squeeze another dime out of you dedicated long-time users.
Know what else? Pretty soon someone like Slate Digital will come along and offer same or better for everything you sell. THEN I'LL BE GONE!

Receiving about two mails a day over the last week announcing the end of the sale for Final Mix and Loudness Control is again pushing the annoyance factor up and up and up. Their marketing department probably hired a professional spamming agency to do this kind of thing.

Very happy RX4 Advanced user here. But please consider adding an "Insert Silence" control, so we can add silent audio at the beginning/end of a file, etc. It's the only thing stopping me from fully switching over from a very outdated version of Adobe Audition!
