MXXX Vibrato - wrong depth amount

Hi there,

noticed a little non-critical bug: the vibrato module inside MXXX shows "ms" as the value for the depth instead of "percentage".

At least in the single vibrato instance it is percantage for the depth.

:)

Best,
Manu

Hi Manu,

that's actually intentional ;). "ms" is just better. It is kept in % in the normal vibrato plugins for sake of backward compatibility.

I see. If you allow me the question: why is "ms" better? Or better asked: what exactly stands "ms" for in a technical view?

In the end it's okay for, since I still just interpret it as a percantage knob, hehe. But maybe you can answer me the question and I start to understand the idea behind "ms" instead of "%". :)

"ms" is the number of the milliseconds of the delay line the vibrato is using. % are converted to milliseconds, but for backward compatibility this actually doesn't convert between sampling rates, so it sounds different with different sampling rates. (it could already be fixed I think, but I'm not sure :D, anyway fix means a breach for backward compatibilty).

I still do not get it totally right now. It sounds to me like "ms" could rather be a value for the frequency ... maybe I will try to let the internet teach me about this issue.

By the way: I would not like to be in your position regarding "backwards compatibility" things ... phew.... good luck though. :)

Hehe, yeah, backward compatibility is a bitch :D. Anyway if I were you, I wouldn't think about it too much, from practical point of view it is useless ;).

Yeah, you are totally right with this. In the end I am just a very curious guy. ;)
