Yes you are insane. You just sold your best sounding synths. How could you? Are you already medicated?

None of the stuff you listed is 100% ananlogue, and the stuff you sold is easily replaced by software, so i'd say you made a good choice. :tu:

Post

I have lived with software for many years, while my gear collected dust. Now I had the chance, so I will not go back to software for now. Otherwise I get you indeed.

Well I think the only potential downside might be that depending on one's age and musical temperament there may come a time when one really misses the silly things and regrets having let them go.

I've always had a strange thing about musical instruments, the acoustic ones even more so than the electronic variety, and the rational aspects to parting with them don't always cover the whole psychological impact of the break-up.

Did you use them to make music? Sweet, wonderful music? If so, I don't know that a poll at KVR will help you if you ever really come to your senses... :ud: :hihi:

Eh? And you didn't tell me? How dare you do dis?? :x :x

I'd rather be scolded by you than sliced by the maiden :D

Why don't you sell yours too? Lets make it a movement, a trend or maybe even.... A REVOLUTION :wheee:

Anyway, under such restrictions it was really not that hard a choice: If you want to keep the scope of both analog and digital sounds, it is much easier to emulate analog sounds with a digital synth than it is to emulate digital sounds with an analog synth.

Another thing is that my analogs needs external effektprocessers that take up space, while my digital synths have internal effects.

In addition, the colors of the gear match better than any other combination and that means something to the maiden

But that is what I have been doing for years and I am sick of software. Need a hands-on PC free studio (apart from recording) and this was my chance.

I do have my software alternative though, An iPad Air 2 with loads of apps and an Oxygen 49 Controller.
Hell, for an extra digit in the rear you could get rid of the Xi as well. Show her how manly you are by making all your music with a good MIDI controller and Maschine.
Of course I do not sell a synth I just bought and my only vocoder, no matter the amount of digits in the rear, you are offering me. But thanks anyway.

Can Maschine stand alone by the way or is it dependent on PC, e.g. For editing? If not, it ain't for me unfortunately. However, I am going to replace my MP7 with a MC909 instead to get a workstation with a sampler (another crime, I could have bought an analog synth instead! )

Good luck with finding a new home and room for your studio though 1/3 of a bedroom already sounds like much more than I got, you lucky bastard.

Cheers

No transfer fees
No being made to feel guilty when selling (Spectrasonics)
No "this now becomes NFR"
No "what, you actually want to sell your software for more than %50 of original price ? "

Any h/w I have ever sold had flown out, software on the other hand instantly devalued.

Both have their pros and cons ( Hw and sw ) ( Economy, possibilities, sound, maintenance, durability etc )

I'm happy to mary them. Then, I'm aware one needs some room to use hw.

And in the end, you can make good music with -good- hw alone. Or -good- sw alone. or with both. And a minimum of talent of course.

To me the key question is, does your gear + maiden evoke joy in you? If so then they will motivate you every day to make the most of your talent. I mean, while I write this someone is scoring a film with chiptune music using a Commodore 64.

And why would a buy such a pile of junk? Minimal featured synths with no midi and a joke for patch memory. Not in a life time, mate

old stuff high maintenance, gathers dust while away. keep one or two. Share the rest with those who need some vintage in their lives. don't be a hog or hoarder. While you're doing that, you might clearing more space for buying a future classic.
It don't mean a thing IIAGTS :D
