My PC isn't the most powerful in the world but it's not bad either. Windows 7 64 bit. Core 3 processor. 16 gig RAM. It's certainly powerful enough to run 25 instances of Omnisphere 2 (42 of Omnisphere 1)Taron wrote:![]()
...I, uhm...so, ah...this is not a hobby to you?
Yes, mantra evo isn't processing friendly for sure, but what kind of computer were you running it on that it would freeze the whole time?
You know that I'm using MuLab and I'm on a 2.6Ghz Xeon (12 core, okok, but still) with MME drivers, not even Asio (because that is blue screen galore for my machine). Yet, I have 30 instances of the Evo running in real time.
Anyway...we all were frustrated with it for a while.
But, yeah...I don't quite know what to tell you, because you certainly represent enthusiasm I find admirable and a little more confident than I would've anticipated. I'd say: "Good on ya'!" as the Australians like to say.
moving on...
The problem was, Evo is 32 bit and I'm on a 64 bit machine. Cubase 7 doesn't like 32 bit plugs, even with bridging. Some work fine, some not so fine and some not at all. Evo fell in the not so fine category. So I had to create the track and freeze it in order to add additional tracks. No big deal. It just made mixing a nightmare.
In the end, I just didn't enjoy working with the synth. The controls were fidgety, the envelopes a mess, the GUI hard to read. At 57 years of age, I just don't have the patience with tech that is not easy to work with. Give me Zebra 2. That I like. Hell, give me Charlatan. At least the interface is clean and every control is easy to read and work with.
I'm really not that hard to please.
Anyway, all this is moot. Like I said, one day I'll show the community that I'm actually capable of doing something of quality. But right now, work has to take precedence over fun and games.

OMG, haha, ok, this should probably become a private conversation between wag and me, but I just took a gander at your "about" on your website, wag, and I was hoping to find a little something about who you are and what you do.... and what do I find? Seemingly EVERYTHING you could possibly tell about yourself, hahaha, that's AWESOME!

So, eh...just a little FYI, I think you're some character. At 57 you're still on fire, albeit here and there your flame rides through the prairie somewhere off in the distance, but riding and on fire you are for sure!
I can literally only hope to retain half of that energy for another 14 years until I catch up, hahaha.
Yep, Charlatan is a good candidate to show some wicked stuff. I'm having a blast!

Now I'm back from holidays and as promised on SoundCould, I uploaded the patches I have used for my OSC76 track "mcaitch - burnout": http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=dl&id=2866 Most of them are modified versions of patches made by Richard Semper. Again, thank you very much for producing and sharing them!!!
@Handsome Hank: Too bad that you can't read the Cubase project file of my song. To help explain how I made the guitar sounds, I attached a screenshot of the song/instrument structure to show you which patches I used for the rhythm and lead guitars. I added EQ, compression, reverb or delay and Voxengo MSED to produce the guitar sounds.

Hey everyone I would like to deeply apologize, In my song this month i used a plugin not listed as freeware. I used cableguys waveshaper which is from the computer music magazine. It was brought to my attention a little bit ago, so i cant really do much about it. The plugin adds some distortion to one of the lead sounds and is used almost invisibly as mantra is already pretty distorted. I accept disqualification readily, and this is not important to me anyway. What is important is that people do not think im using magware plugins deliberately. I am not sure how i made the mistake but I know cableguys offers a few freeware plugins and i must have thought waveshaper is one of them. sorry again everyone

I would most certainly let this one slip, but at the latest if you were to replace the plugin and re-up the track, everything should be perfect.
Just as a little suggestion:
- make a "FREE" folder in your vst folder and put all of the free ones in there.
I've just recently started that after I found this amazing website: http://www.vst4free.com
Also, reading through the infos of some great old OSC tracks I found another set of rather stunning free vsts. This folder is filling up quick!
There's this dynamic EQ that intrigues me, but it needs far more exploration of mine: Nova - 67P
Seems to be kind of like a multiband compressor/limiter, I don't know... but it looks and sounds very promising.
Anyway...I wouldn't sweat it too much, Loris!

How about the next 10 votes from OSC76 participants decide this:loris16148 wrote:Hey everyone I would like to deeply apologize, In my song this month i used a plugin not listed as freeware. No problem for me
Magware is almost freeware anyway!

I vote yea. Let the track in. I think the free rule is taken too far anyway.
