Please list, thanks! :tu:

edit: try not to list everything you can think of, how about your top 1 or 3? The one(s) you think sound exceptional, better than anything else.

edit: ok I'll tell you what this is for. I'm thinking about creating my own VST product, codenamed "Scream" which will be marketed as "a synth that will rip your face off" and so I want to know what people think sounds the best, so I can either A. make sure my product sounds even better or B. realize that I can't beat the competition. The unique feature/selling point will be the ability to design your own filter by changing the filter's internal behavioral parameters. I want it to be able to create just about every filter sound one could imagine and more. (I'm just dreaming though, but I do have some idea on how I could accomplish this).

edit: My definition of screamy will include everything that is not simply "filter ringing"; there's some saturation going on, some interaction with the input signal. Subtle moog growl or even more subtle than that counts, up to insane MS-20 square madness. If that's your favorite, let me know!

Thoothnclaw, Echoes, could you narrow that list down so I know what you think sounds the best?

The absolute best filters I've heard on a vst are the Korg MS-20s.

Those are the ones to beat.

Good luck with that.

- Korg VA synths (Polysix, Mono/Poly and MS-20)
- Monark
- DCAM: Synth Squad (Strobe and Cypher)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I'd second Xils - Lovely filters.

Omnisphere II - there's rakes of good ones.

Oddity 2 and Imposcar 2 (as ops have said).

Tal Sampler has gorgeaous LP filters.

Nave - Waldorf's filters are amongst the best.

ABL 3 when it comes.

The filter that I know of that screams the most is Naive LPF
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

Beaten to a pulp by Cytomic's MS-20 emulation in the The Drop.

Personally do not really dig screamy filters. But the most screamy one i heard was in the Korg MS-20 plugin. It distorts so much, it's horrible. :hihi: The filter in Tyrell N6 also distorts like mad, but doesn't quite have the screamy characteristic. If i wanted something to scream i'd rather use distortion though, a filter which distorts like hell by itself is not really handy IMO.

Hive's can do that screamy filter really well.

Depends on what you'd consider screaming I guess. But if NI ever decides to incorporate their Driver filter in a synth, that one should definitely take the cake. Although, depending on your tastes, it may be a wee bit over the top ;)

my favorites are the Sallen-Key filter of Cableguys Curve / filtershaper
scream, shout and sing if modulated at audio rate audio also speak.
