Working on user requests is what makes the final product better for everyone. I always consider feedbacks and I try to accommodate all suggestions.
Do you think you could pass those sentiments on to Izotope?
Well :)
A bit OT but I think I have the advantage, with AudioThing, of being my own boss. So I can decide pretty much how I want to spend my time. Spending days/weeks on improving the plugin with user suggestions/feedbacks, will surely lead to happy customers and new sales.
I do however understand what it means to work in a company with several "heads" and more staff. There are different priorities, tighter schedules/deadline, different budgets and so on.
lnikj wrote:I am currently importing IRs and one thing I would really appreciate is some way of bulk editing preset metadata. That is, the ability to make multiple preset selections to add, for example, preset author. Pasting in the same author 500 times is a bit painful. I have IRs that I know I would like to apply the same tags and categories too as well.

I don't know if this is possible but if you are looking at XML/CSV export then perhaps making that two way and allowing for import too would be a way forward.
I have to think about the right way of doing it. Allowing multiple selections on the browser is a bit tricky with the current behavior (one click = preset loading, double click = edit value). But yes, I'll try to come up with something useable.

I think the GUI would probably have to be tweaked, but I would definitely have to agree that a little blue toggle button would be great. Here's an idea...

Do we really need the "Delete" button in the mini preset browser up top? We can just as easily delete presets within the main preset browser by right-clicking on a preset. So, there's your "Browse" button right there. Just change the code and move it to the far right.

Just a thought

Selection tickboxes? Edit mode?

And one more! Last one today, I promise :)

I find with the creative use of IRs that it is often not the high and low frequencies that I want to cut, but unpleasant mid range resonances. This is probably a suggestion too far, and I know you have earmarked a full EQ for a future pro version, but might it be worth considering replacing the two high pass and low pass knobs, with a multimode filter (high, low, bandpass, notch) knob and a frequency knob instead (with the appropriate code behind them of course!)?

elxsound wrote:4. A way to locate the factory IR bank via the more/settings menu.

-Upon first install, I meant to install the library in a dedicated folder on a dedicate hard drive, but (but still installed in the main directory instead of the dedicated sub directory - it was user error  ). Using the +/- controls to add the factory bank after moving to the correct location resulted in duplicated preset folder (as the import created a new folder) and the heading for each category, preset or tag, would appear with the parent directory name followed by a "/" and then name as designed in the factory bank.

-The only way I could fix this was by reinstalling (and of course choosing the intended location correctly during install). Fog Convolver does not appear to recognize if presets have already been created and import those instead of creating new ones.
Mmm that's actually strange but I know what happend. There are two way of adding a bank actually, if you click on the + button below the Bank List you will have two options "Create or Add Bank/Folder" and "Import IR Folder" (which is the same as More -> Import IR Folder). If you choose the first option it will check for an existing bank (especially the Factory bank) and will add it normally without re-creating all the presets.
Oh, got it! At the time I thought it would add a physical folder to the browser, but now I don't know why I thought that would be the case!

I also want to say that I love having picked this up. Initially, I was skeptical like others about seeing yet another convolution plugin, but this is extremely simple to use with some lovely features and that makes a world of a difference.

I look forward to seeing the pro version one day, and also the synth you mention.

I'll work on the next update, but this one could take a while. Also Pro and Convolution Synth are definitely on the to-do list but I'm going to need a very long research time.
Hez wrote:Anyone else using it with Bitwig? Having trouble on Bitwig 1.1.8 and 1.1.9, only the 32 bit version of the plugin shows in the browser and I get a plugin host died: end of stream error when trying to open it.
I didn't test it on Bitwig, I'll see if I can try it on a demo version but if you can please contact us here: http://www.audiothing.net/contact/ (please provide all necessary details to track this issue).
Thanks for looking into it - have sent a message through the contact page with more details.

Edit mode sounds like a good idea, yes.

I get your point but I don't think I will change the filters in this version, but I will definitely add a full EQ in a Pro version.

I thought that might be a suggestion too far! No worries; at the moment I have an SPL Full Ranger sat behind Fog Convolver which makes tweaking the cuts quick and easy.

Thanks also for continuing to work on making editing the preset metadata easier. [I used to work in formulating metadata vocabularies (IEEE LOM), so you have no idea what an incomplete record does to me :hyper:]

I kept clicking the labels 'save' etc. Maybe the black on black buttons could be more visible. With tool tips.

Just wrapped a review/interview on BPB for anyone interested, plus there's a giveaway :tu:

Bought! And I'm having a lot of fun with it. Another good release. :)

By the way I see you're based in Dublin. I'm a Kildare man myself these days...
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.
