Has the sound engine ever been updated since the initial iteration? Oscillator alisaging and such? Is it higher resolution? I remember it was a really great synth at the time.

Afaik, it's the same synth engine as the K- and A-Station, and changing something would break preset compatibility between the synths. That's also likely the reason why they never raised the amount of voices in the V-Station.

At least they could raise the amount of voices... That shouldn't pose any problems with preset compatibility. If they introduce a new control for this, old patches would default to 8 voices (because they didn't have a value stored for this new parameter), and new ones could use the stored value... not a big issue really. And it would really benefit this synth - unison would have a lot more sense then.

I own an already shelved Supernova II and like the old Novation sound, which I can get with V-station. It's a great synth with nice character. Good for pads and bass. V-station was probably one of the first plugins I owned.

I've had tons of validation problems with other plugins from Focusrite/Novation, but strangely none with V-Station. All my validation problems have been caused by a changed computer setup - meaning an attached LAN cable.. it's weird, but true. Everytime I'm at a location that does not have WLAN and I need to connect with a cable, my Focusrite plugins (also Novation FX Suite I remember) ask for re-validation. Fix is simple, just disconnect the LAN cable when loading the plugins.

Play a sine at F1 (43 Hz) and listen with headphones - the sine isn't pure

Also there is always crackling on lower instruments like basses. You can only fix that with high amounts of attack/release which destroys the original designed sound

Just look at the end of the bass, it's like jumping back to the unfiltered sound:

Very short envelope times (<1 ms) will ALWAYS result in crackling noises. On any synth.

I bought the V-Synth as a back-up to my X-Station and then sold the X-Station during a time I needed the cash.
And in no-way do I feel the V does what the X did.

I don't think it has changed much since its initial release in terms of sound.

GREAT synth, especially for bass.

They aren't short like that... it's just bad programmed by the synth devs.

I don't think they programmed it badly - it's the Novation sound. Take it or leave it.

X-Station? The V-Station is supposedly be the same as the K- and A-Station hardware. Not aware that there is a Novation X-Station synth. I know of a Novation XioSynth. Edit: I see now, this thing: http://www.bonedo.de/artikel/einzelansi ... -61/2.html Well, i don't see how it should be related to the V-Station, as i wrote, the A- and K-Station hardware is the line the V-Station hails from.
