Synth1 has unison on the oscillator level too. Just turn the det knob of oscillator 1. I think the oscillators themselves are mono though, so no control about stereo spread. And no control about detuning curve.

The U-he Hive synth, and Synapse Audio Dune2.

Can anyone tell me if Omnisphere 2 has more JP8000 waveforms? or how it may compare to sounding like a JP8000?

thanks!

JP6K :)

Dunno about Omisphere, but Diva has a JP-8000 module, Electra2 has the JP-8000 Supersaw waveform, and there's also Sunrizer and Superwave P8. Loads of options. :)

Love such pads with fine detuning of just a few waves, although I am sure that is not what supersaw meant is to sound like :hihi:

Sorry for the big file, but with a lower sampling rate the fine rasping got lost a bit :P Actually, I only hear it well on headphones. Maybe my speakers just suck :? And the Box preview doesn't help, either, it seems to deteriorate the sound... Does any of those upload services not do that?

This is lush classic pad. I really like it :) is it done with Sylenth? Really nice :tu:
I like Retrologue for such pads but I could make some with Massive and Thor in Reason also. I will try to upload some here or in a new thread (about pads) when I get home.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Oops, yes, Sylenth :) Sometimes I just play any chords for a quarter of an hour because it sounds so pleasant :)

Retrologue could do it as well I suppose, but one would need external effects to make it sound like Sylenth. For instance, I use the eq a lot in Sylenth, and of course this patch uses the reverb and chorus.

I don't have (or really played with) a JP8000 but I'll try to help out on the first part of your question.

First, as part of the DSP (Synth) waveforms added, they have added several JP and Juno variants: JP-8 JP-8000 Juno60 JX-3P. They also have waveforms labelled Virus.

On the sound sample front they have one soundsource of the JP-8000 Supersaw which has a fixed detune amount that's pretty wide. They also have 3 variants of the JP-8000 warm strings sound. There are several other Roland soundsources: JP-8, Juno 60, JX-10, JX-JP, JX-3P. I didn't look at all of them but a quick sampling seems to indicate through tags they were all in Omni1.
Feel free to call me Brian.

To have nice pads actually is not an easy task (at least for me!). Although most of the synths I have can produce really nice ones. I'm not perfectionist, so I don't mind some differences here and there. Anyway, they might not be super saw, but they are 'good' saw :hihi:

This. The key feature of JP-8000 leads is smooth detune modulation. You can't get this effect with fixed waveforms, you need to layer 7 oscillators and control them precisely. Also, you can't get free-running oscillators with waveform or wavetable.

(The same is true for acid.)

I think Massive sounds the worst. Codex sounds much better, very 80's somehow. Can it do SuperWhatever stuff? Element had a rather rudimentary Unison if I remember correctly, but that's it.
I don't even know Thor 8)

I think I didn't try with Massive enough (it was the last one in hurry :hihi:). It can sound wonderful really, so blame it on me!

I haven't delved deeply into Codex yet, but yes it has unison and it surprised me how good it can sound. I'm not sure about Elements. I almost bought it but as you see I have many synths and I'm already confused about them. Anyway, Codex is a great synth. I love it. As you said, it can sound very 80's (high quality 80's!). It also can do weird wavetables sounds and you can modulate moving between the tables if one table is not enough!

Thor is in Reason ;) Great synth really, it has many kinds of ocsillators (Wavetable, Analog, Multi, Phase Modulation, FM pair and Noise). It has several great filters as well. Thor IMO from the best designed synths ever. Reason worth it alone just with Thor :D

Of course, my favourite 'Jupiter' synth! Retrologue I love it.

I tried little bit with Sunrizer, but I couldn't come with something the same league with the others. I was surprised as I thought it can do it easily. Anyway, Sunrizer is good for the bright super saw as a lead, but Sylenth is more interesting of course.

Supersaw is a rather specific sound, those who liked it 15 years ago probably still like it, and those who hated it 15 years ago probably hate it even more today :hihi:
