As I wanted to go for a new IOS synthesizer while I am on holidays, I wanted to check out your suggestions which IOS synthesizer has most features and a great sound ?

If you haven't checked out Waldorf Nave already, i'd get that. Most fun for the money i guess. :)

Animoog and Impaktor are my favourites. Impaktor is pretty underrated - you can get a lot of varied sounds out of that thing.

Thor is my favourite, though Modular (by Pulse Code) is the most fun.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

I really love how Sunrizer sounds... has great filters, effects and an preset morphing system allowing for some interesting possibilities. The UI is straightforward and easy to get results with.

My other favorite is Waldorf Nave.

I agree with both.
I own several of the most rated iOS synths and Animoog is (hands down) the best one, truly original and with an astonishing sound quality (it's Moog indeed!).
It offers sound expansions and a very useful four track recorder (as in app purchase). It has a sliding, dynamic, marvellous keyboard truly "made for touchscreen" that all the other iOS synths cannot do more than try to copy... (I love it, ok, I love it)

Impaktor is a litlle toy with a hidden beast inside. If you like to move your fingers to create rhythms with drums, bass, percussions, it is an endless source of fun. Instruments take the trigger from the ipad microphone, so it really responds to "how" you beat your fingers on the screen (and not only there, if you are a bit creative). Use a headphone without mic, or you'll get crazy...

Have fun!

I own many great IOS synths (it's easy to do and cheap, especially if you wait for sales)...but Animoog and Sunrizer get the most use.

And Auxy as a sequencer.

Yeah Animoog sits head and shoulder above the rest in terms of sound quality and it seems to be one of the only synths that truly takes advantage of the touch screen.

Impaktor is wonderful. I found out soon after buying it that not only does it respond to velocity - it also responds to frequency. Try hitting different surfaces and you'll hear how it responds to the sound of the surface and not just how hard you're hitting it. Just amazing for such a cheap app.

The official EMS VC3 emulator from apesoft - iVCS3 - is fantastic and really suits the touch screen interface. Not your average synth, but lots of fun and sounds great.

For playabilty it's an easy choice for me - Ondes by Olympia Noise Co. It's interface is perfect for the iPad, and lends itself to expressive control of multiple parameters at once.

Actually I recommend everything by Olympia Noise Co. In my opinion they're leading the way in touchscreen interface design.

As for depth and breadth of programmability and sound design possibilties my choice is zMors Modular. Though Thor is more fun to program.

if i could only have one iPad app, it'd be Korg Gadget.

Post

holy trinity - nave, animoog & thor

impaktor is also right up there, but not what i would necessarily recommend as a synth
