this.

i really like the concept and i want to really like the plugin itself. right now its just too ponderous. the included synth engine doesnt seem worth using, and the process to use your own doesnt feel finished yet.

again...i do like the concept, but personally, ill wait to see if they can improve functionality before i buy it. as it stands, i can already do what this does with the tools i have. this would be an easier/faster way...if it were in fact easier and faster...which right now it isnt.

If one mainly wants Obscurium to drive outside plugs, would Thesys be a better choice for that kind of task?

not if you want the sequencing features of Obscurium, no.

if you only want to do with Obscurium what can also be done with Thesys, then yes I suppose it might be.

bit of a stupid question.

If one mainly wants Obscurium to drive outside plugs then there is no substitute for Numerology IMHO. What is/could be be cool about Obscurium is that one can see what one is doing in a very compact interface rather than scrolling through a rack.

There is nothing that Obscurium does that I cannot do better in Numerology, Reaktor or Max, but none of those present the whole picture of what I am doing (thus far) in a better way.

It just needs to work properly (plus I have a list of feature requests I am noting as I play with it).

This is more powerful than Thesys, all those modulation options and drawing tools etc

looking forward to those feature requests :) don't keep them under your hat too long though, might be best to submit them while they're working on feature additions like MIDI CC ...

as far as Numerology goes, well, you're right and I own a mac for just such lovely pieces of osx-only software.
but it's OSX only ...
There is possibly a Windows substitute for it on the horizon though .... Loomer.co.uk have been working on it for some years now, as yet untitled (working title is 'epoch' ...there's a big thread dedicated to it on the loomer sub-forum here on kvr - if you aren't aware)

I'm very aware! Eagerly awaiting it ... and awaiting it .. .and ... :D

umm. no.... if you spent so much as 2 minutes researching Obscurium (or demoing it for that matter) you wouldn't ask such an asinine question. Or maybe it's Thesys you have no clue about ? - at any rate there's no need to be a grand master of either to recognise the differences.

Well what I see in this thread is that users complain about the inbuilt synth capabilites of Obscurium.

Then I see Thesys for sale at €35 in the sales forum.

And then start to think if I could get some of the same functions for a lot less of the price

My most major feature request would be lengthening the clock to 16 bars, or even much further. It pains me in Numerology that you have to jump through hoops to drone.

I'm not much into plinkety plonkety stuff, more slowly evolving stuff.

Second on the list would be 'scenes'/a pattern sequencer, like in just about any drum machine.
