The accumulation of real/analog stuff is being replaced by an accumulation of virtual stuff.
But there has been a resurgence of tape release.

I rate Steve Moore as one of the most talented new ambient/Berlin School artists, and some of his material is only being released on tape

I see that as a temporary aberration. Partly as a push back against piracy but also a bit of nostalgia. In the long view, the demand for economic growth means an expansion into the virtual.

edit: probably a bit ironic since they said that "Home Taping Is Killing Music"

Woah, that was it! I got it for Christmas, along with Queen's "Greatest Hits".

Used to have about 25 tapes recorded from radio... that was pretty much a good record of mid to late 80s chart hits. It was a real bitch to get "Purple Rain", because the station always faded out during the guitar solo. And I was dying to record Simple Minds' "Don't you", and when it finally came, the DJ sniffed (sniffed!!) during the outro - they forgot to kill his mic. It was like, "La, la la la la, la la la la, *sniff*, la la la..." I punched the wall when that happened, but ever since, that sniff is a part of the song for me, for better or worse.

Can't get those memories from digital downloads, that's for sure.

After 3 over-heating PS-1's I swore off Sony products for good. Except Acid Pro(it was Sound Forge when I brought it).

hahaha there were a couple of songs that had glitches on my collection from my recording and those glitches became part of those song to me too.. to the point, when I went out and heard the song on a jukebox (yes, remember those?) I was perplexed about the glitches not being there.. :-o

But I was too poor for an actual Sony Walkman.. I had the Koss version (with Bass Boost). Still have it and my MC Hammer tapes. woohoo. 2 legit 2 quit.

I still have my WM-1. Built like a tank, can go on forever with its 4 AA batteries. Reverse doesn't work anymore, I'm guessing some rubber belt broke inside. Two headphone outputs = fun listening with a buddy.

When I got mine I thought I'd be able to block out the outside world by turning it up to 10 and pressing play with no tape inside...apparently that's not how things work. :dog:

Yep, used regularly. Fearing the day it dies.

Everybody knows it needs to go to 11 to be able to do that. :hihi:

I moved places too often, at some point my various walkmen and discmen just stopped moving with me.
