You guys have spoiled too much those paranoia kids. You should rather make FL auto-update default like ableton live to bother and discipline those offline people!!Image-Line wrote:I suppose some people don't know us, but it's slightly amusing to see the paranoia.

Asking questions or being concerned does not make one paranoid.
Accusing some of your fans of being paranoid is bad manners IMHO.

I'd say it's more of a question of annoyances than paranoia. I was too lazy to do a network traffic capture yesterday but I really doubt anything nefarious is going on.
But why put all this online crap in in the first place? Who want's to surf the web from their DAW? The most annoying things are the error messages and lag when network is disabled (which it is on my main DAW). If you really need to have some kind of online news and stuff then put it all into some kind of start screen/project launcher with an option to completely disable it.
And as for rendering screen, I'd rather see a minigame of tetris or solitaire included there than some online advertising.

As long as FL dont became another "Custom Shop" i'm fine with it.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

This all does boil down to a couple of clicks. 2 to disable the NewsPanel. One to disable the render panel.murnau wrote:As long as FL dont became another "Custom Shop" i'm fine with it.
What do we get out of it? Some contact with the 200,000+ people who download and try the demo each week. Contact with the tens of millions using the demo long-term.

I'll jumble in to say BS on that. "Asking questions" is inarticulate to this. There was clear paranoia from some people about FL's net use, despite there being no indication of it being for unfriendly purposes.Kalamata Kid wrote:Asking questions or being concerned does not make one paranoid.

It's objectively paranoia, Scott was in the right saying so. Developers are under no obligation to kiss ass. Good developers are firm, friendly and fair. I would say Scott is easily all three of those things.
Anyways let's please not bullshit this thread into something other than FL 12.1 talk. How's the beta running for people?

I though Scott did a good job replying to the questions. Using the word paranoid was unnecessary. This typically gets a negative response. It’s like throwing gasoline to a flame. We are mature enough to know this.KingTuck wrote:I'll jumble in to say BS on that. "Asking questions" is inarticulate to this. Scott replied to me regarding this issue. Case closed between us.
So we disagree. You think that paranoia was an appropriate word to use, I do not.
So we agree. Let’s put this unfortunate incidence to rest and go on with the business of FLS 21.1

It seems that some of the IP addresses that FL Studio connects trace back to NSA. It probably means that when you render your music it is sent to NSA so they can analyze if your music contains any subliminal terrorist melodies, harmonies or lyrics.

Being stupid enough to not understand how the internet works is just embarrassing...Kalamata Kid wrote:Asking questions or being concerned does not make one paranoid.

It's quite obvious that FL Studio is accessing the internet to display information FROM Image Line, not to watch how many times you render something. Jesus. Talk about over reacting to something. "Oh no! Image Line is counting every time I render something!" If you would actually think about this, it is laughable - what would they do with such information? And now this entire thread is full of this bullshit - start a new thread and go at it if you want, I came to this thread to read about 12.1 and its new functions.
