OK BIG update! Tone2 provided me with all ilok fixes (ASAP and thanks for that!) and i tested 3 plugins so far. NO SHUT DOWN and NO CRASHES so far ;). i even got a reply what those fixes do!
They will also the next updated installers so those fixes will be included. i was unsure because i wondered myself WHY those fixes werent added in the installers a long time since the fixes were released. so now i got only ILOK on my blacklist left :P (and spectrasonics for still not fixing my 32bit omnisphere authorization probs lol).

to ANYONE who will still talk shit about those watermarks etc. prove it first before posting this crap first :P. i dont trust any illegal warez groups' talk. ilok however has already been proven to do shit with your pc, some more and some less + their crappy licensing safety systems (+ backupplans).

im glad tone2 was false alarmely in suspicion! glad for that as im using their plugins in so many projects!

now i would be happy if uvi and soundtoys would totally get rid of ilok then i could be ilok-free!!!!

FOR FIX, GET THE ILOK FIX PATCHES FROM TONE2's PAGE/FORUMS!

old issues FIXED NOW! for anybody finding this topic!
-------------
woah mates, im suffering endless crashes lately and didnt know why.... if you got the time this is the last post i did on the IL forums (FL Studio Forums) where my topic is worked on some days now and i think i found it but no solution atm.

FULL LOG, im scared atm using FL Studio with those companies' products....

"here is the full log i did on the IMAGE LINE tech forums
did you get the project? i sent it 2 days ago, i just had a FRESH project and not many plugins! then it crashes again, gladiator.dll.... i can send the new project as well.

EDIT: it seems in this NEW project i just did it only crashes when i have added my master channel insert! (this insert is not crashing fresh projects however, i just started 3 test projects with it!). so maybe a plugin cannot correspond with gladiator.dll? if this is programwise possible. i will now re-load the previous state before the adding of the master channel state from me and add each plugin seperately!

EDIT 2: ok, every time i add TUBE SATURATOR 2 the project crashes when i click save and then want to create a new project or close FL12 64bit and want to load the project

FL12 64bit trying to load the project with TUBE SATURATOR 2
Image

FL12 32bit trying to load the project with TUBE SATURATOR 2
Image

EDIT 3: i just opened the last working project version "crashtest 6" and removed GLADIATOR VST, then added my master channel state wtih TUBE SATURATOR 2. it doesnt crash....
EDIT 4: i then added GLADIATOR and then it crashed. like they dont like each other!
EDIT 5: i then got back to EDIT 3 and deleted TUBE SATURATOR 2 then added GLADIATOR, it crashed, so once i added TUBE SATURATOR 2 and even if i remove it FL12 crashes like once TUBE SATURATOR 2 added and deleted it doesnt want to work with GLADIATOR
EDIT 6: ok i just had the SUSPICION, TUBE SATURATOR 2 is ILOK secured. i remember FL12 crashed with ECHOBOY which is also ILOK secured, guess what. ANY ILOK secured plugin (UVIWorkstation Products, Soundtoys Products & Tube Saturator 2) crashes FL12 when i have gladiator in there.
EDIT 7: i just tested it in FL11 64Bit as well. the same!
EDIT 8: i just tried another Tone2 product NEMESIS + an ILOK product TUBE SATURATOR 2. i then saved the project. created a new one and my PC shut down with automatically ending all applications. then i manually had to restart! WTF?!?!? now im scared... i dunno what made my pc/win7 automatcially shut down!

NOTE that as far as i remember NONE of my projects in the last 2 weeks where i use ilok products (machine/dongle ilok2) but i think WITHOUT tone2 products crashed like this and made MY PC SHUT DOWN! i remember it was about 6 months ago that i think i used (maybe NEMESIS too?) the free giveaway EVENTIDE ULTRACHANNEL (ilok machine/pc registration) made my pc shut down too, i guess (i dont remember the old project anymore and im scared to test nemesis + ilok product atm) it was the same combination NEMESIS + ilok = shut down!"

thanks a lot! well it seems tone2 products only atm.... i just tested WAVES + iLok plugins. 1 + many more. no issues.... so now is the question, (i know ilok sucks but i thought the pc authorization seemed not bad? not more than other authorizations?) why does only tone2 products have this prob so far?

2 paranoid copy protection systems don't really work too well together on the same computer i guess. Not too sure

It's kind of crappy for owners of Ilok that use Tone2.

do you use ILOK?
i dunno whom to trust atm, tone2 or ilok (and yes or both).

Well, if what's written in the thread V0RTEX linked to is true, then try to update your Tone2 synths to the latest version and see if that fixes the issues.

Post

Yah try updating your stuff.

now i will wait for replies of those and see if i will get rid of one of those companies' plugins. who knows what those 2 copy protections they use can do to your pc besides shutting it down.

yes i already updated them but didnt use the ilok fixes (for nemesis is no fix available!), so the question is WHY does tone2 need fixes? and others not it seems? what does their watermark copy protection do at all?
i think both companies wont tell but this is now proven and i think we customers should get some answers from both of them!

this is just ridiculous, copy protections f**king up LEGAL customers..... i dont say to try cracked stuff but tone2 please try GLADIATOR and NEMESIS with some ilok plugins without your watermark copy protection and see if it works, vice versa the same, if an ilok product WITHOUT ilok copy protection works with a tone2 product without a prob!

As far as i understood the posts, the fixes should be part of the latest updates. No 2.5 update for Gladiator available yet though, so i guess you have to install the fix. The watermark copy protection is, as far as i understood it, simply a license information coded into the audio phase, so that shouldn't collide with the iLok drivers. Maybe the other thing which looks for unlegit licenses on your comp and deletes them if there are any. Anyway, i'd install the fix and see if it works out for you.

I don't trust Tone 2 software one bit. Marcus is just too pathologically paranoid about piracy. Ask yourself why no other developer's software conflicts with iLok (and I'm no fan of iLok). Or at least no other developer I'm aware of at this time. I won't ever even try a Tone 2 demo anymore.

I'm not looking to argue my point with anyone so I'm out..........

I've thought like this before but there's no reason for it. I was a dunce in thinking this before. Marcus isn't super paranoid, he's just a (very) experienced software vet who knows how the piracy scene works. There's nothing unusual about the Tone2 copy protection, it's just very well implemented. The audio watermark is bullshit and doesn't stand the test of any reasonable processing. It's simply there (along with the license info popup in the software) to let legitimate users know that distributing their software illegally is a true offence. Not everything is easy in the world, a full set of cracked Tone2 software could hugely damage the small company. If Markus were truly vicious about piracy, he would have used C/R instead of offline license files. The CP implementation in the Tone2 products is so well integrated that a C/R alternative would never, ever, ever have been cracked and further than that cannot be distributed with legitimate keyfiles for piracy users. Necessarily this would require the software to be actually cracked to exist in the piracy scene.

It's philosophically important to Markus that the software stay functional even in the case that the company goes under. This decision is the only reason piracy users have the option to use any of their software since old releases of Gladiator 2.

Teksonik, you don't wanna argue but honestly I think you're paranoid as shit. Netchecks from IL got you spooked, vague-nothings from Tone2 got you creeped...maybe other stuff. Dunno, it just doesn't make sense so I have trouble thinking you see straight on that. Don't let your ignorance of software conflicts (an occasional problem for usually difficult to discern reasons for all software developers, VST or no) jump you full of undue arrogance.

It's important to note that there is no reason to assume this is tied to copy protection. It's a software conflict, those happen. It's much more probably dependant on iLok, who use low level drivers to run the copy protection scheme (always much, much more "shady"). Please don't be foolish and think stuff like "who knows what those 2 copy protections they use can do to your pc besides shutting it down". That kind of fearful ignorance is dumb. Computers don't work in such a way that crazy things will normally happen during malfunction of software. There's no such domino effect. Your computer turning off is much more likely from a low level driver than an offline license file protection scheme.

Flip it and see the issue. "All other CP schemes work with Tone2 software, why wouldn't iLok?" is the inverse of what's being said here, and is no more or less true. I dunno why I'm putting this kind of time into a KVR post......it'll be forgotten in a heartbeat even for those I'm directly talking to.

Old problem. Some time ago Tone2 products also crashed eLicenser. They seem to be doing some really really shady sh1t with their copy protection. I would not trust that company as they have a long bad record on this. Their products are close to malware. As is PACE iLok.

Nope. Teksonik is completely right. Tone 2 has a long and really bad history of doing some really intrusive and crappy things with their products. How is it exactly normal when their CP conflicts with other products? Only PACE is as bad as that. They seem to be so fixated on piracy that they probably would make your computer explode if they think your might be using non-legit stuff. Their products are pretty much like malware and they are known to use some shady methods. It's a long history.

So yes, I would never trust a company like Tone 2 and that's why I have never installed any of the Tone2 products, even the free ones. And I will never buy a a Tone 2 product either. Wonder how much this kind of reputation will cost them in the long run compared to piracy.

How did you manage to make such a long discussion out of a simple issue? I could not read all the posts, so if it still an issue, contact the Tone2 and ask for the iLok fix for your product. We all had to install it at one point or another.
