that has to support at least 24bit and 96Khz stereo. I'm looking for an external unit that I can plug my Yamaha keyboard analog output into and then route that into my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro SPDIF in. Also route the analog out from the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro into the unit.

Hope I'm making sense.

(external box is prefered).

Why not just get a better card instead? I've not read nice things about SoundBlaster SPDIF doing nice things to your audio either. The Audiophile 2496 has SDPIF and is now $99. http://www.mtlc.net Ask for Al.

I agree with DevonB. I constantly see Audigy sound cards bashed on all the forums...Start with a better interface to your computer..whether its pci, usb or firewire...

That reallt depends on the level of gear you're looking at. Hi end converters start at around 1000 USD, but i dont think that is necessary for most people. They are some soundcards now which have very good converters in them which should do the job just nicely. At the higher end, i heard the Lynx cards are top notch. I have a ESI Wamirack which i also regard highly for the money. It has spdif etc, and also can opperate as a master word clock. I have a single Mytek stereo converter which does blow the Wami out of the water, but that by no means rules it out as a top bit of kit. I highly recommend you check it out.

I'm not into bashing the CL Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro as it can do A LOT for the price. 108 SN is a pretty good number for a PC based card and with EAX 4.0 games there is not much out their in $100-$200 price range that could even come close to the audio experience. And you get an EMU too along with a bunch of other decoder goodies. If nothing else, it has forced some Pro equipment into a more realistic price range.

But when we got cards that are in the same price range, the Audiophile and the EMu 0404, that's more appropriate for our application, seems kinda silly to even look at the game cards now.

Completely agree with Devon. Look at the EMU 1212m. For $200, you get EXCELLENT converters (rumored to be the same as on Lynx cards, but I can't confirm), balanced I/O, midi, firewire, and ADAT lightpipe (8 channels). An embarrassment of riches

!

The other sound card companies like M-Audio, Echo and Aardvark oughta be shakin' in their boots.
