'Mindhacker's Notebook' is a collection of 75 patches for U-He Bazille, with an emphasis on disturbing soundscapes and futuristic textures. Awesome soundset for the Sci-Fi, Ambient, Horror, Darkscape and Cinematic enthusiasts!
I had much fun working with it. The patches are of truly high quality and very tweakable. You can tell Xenos had fun making them. Bazille is a powerhouse and this set shows why on multiple levels!

Hey thanks a lot for the kind words, guys :). I'm _definitely_ interested in doing more projects like this. What is most enjoyable about soundscapes and atmospheric/cinematic sounds is the exploratory mindset and the complexity involved. You're free to experiment and just _play_ without having any immediate goals in mind. I also enjoyed the challenge of making sounds that are not known for being easy to make, on a synth that took a while to really get to know. After getting more familiar with the patch cable interface of Bazille, I think I finally have the confidence to do something more serious with Arp2600V and the MoogV as well. IMHO, complex textures and special effects sequences are what patch cable synths are all about.

I did some factory sounds for the Bazille release and was very inexperienced with cable style synths (hopefully it didn't show TOO much lol). I grew up in the age of digital synths and it took a good while to actually "get" the appeal of working with patch cables. IMHO, "mainstream" and more simplistic sounds on these kinds of synths are a total waste. The fun is in exploration, and cables allow for a very high degree of complexity without getting lost in a synth's modulation matrix.

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd ask the users... what would you guys like to see more of on Bazille? I _WILL_ be doing more Bazille sets as it is my personal favorite in the U-he product line. Really an absolute joy to work with.

For now, it's time to put some serious work on a new A.C.E. set. I've removed the old ACE bank from the site and already started on an entirely new, very different and much better quality replacement. Everyone that purchased the old ACE set in the past, at any vendor, is entitled to the new one for free.

Oooo I love the sound of that idea :D . Bazille is absolutely perfect for that stuff! The best approach is to have an entire set completely dedicated to only percussive loops and synthesized drum sounds. I'm gonna go ahead and do this. Another Bazille set containing other sound types (basses, pads, melodic sequences, atmospheric soundscapes, etc) can be worked on at the same time, and I will release each as I finish them. I promise I will follow through with this. Given how fun Bazille is to use, it will be well worth the time spent.

+1

Xenos's Fear and Horror set for Massive is also amazing. Even though it's targeted towards horror, I am sure the atmos/bass/pads/etc. can be used in other dark genre too.

From the demo, it looks like Xenos has got another winner here. Top quality and unique as always.

Really surprised how well this Bazille set is doing, which is great because I'm very interested in doing a series of these. Love evolving soundscapes and Bazille is perfect for that kind of stuff.

I have a lot more similar content planned for Massive as well :). Among them, "Fear and Horror Volume 2", which will include sequencer loops and other sounds that I felt were missing from the first one.
