Question for experts...

I'm upgrading from ST1XL (with Sonic Synth, a few capsules, etc.) to ST2XL.

Also switched from Cubase VST32 to Nuendo, and from WinME to XP. For now I'm running dual-boot, would like to get rid of ME if possible.

Old setup (VST32, WinME, ST1 and its sound data) is on C:
New setup (Nuendo, WinXP, ST2 and its sound data) is on F:

Is there a way I can access all my ST1, SR, and ST2 sounds with ST2, yet still be able to load my old projects from before that used ST1?

Would that mean having to put a duplicate copy of all the ST1 sound data into the ST2 directory, while keeping the sounds in the ST1 directory? Right now, ST1 and ST2 are both installed, and each program's root directory points to its own sounds.

Or is it possible to have all the data together in a single folder, and have access to all the sounds for new projects, yet be able to call up old projects and have them work properly?

Pretty confused by it all, especially since I'm not sure how much of the ST1XL sounds are already duplicated in ST2XL, or whether they would load up in old projects made with ST1.

Appreciate all advice!

All of the ST1 XL sounds are in the ST2 XL sound set. You can take your Sonic Synth and other non-ST1XL sounds and put it with the new ST2 XL sound set. You can still run the ST1 software in your tunes but just hit the ROOT key and point to your SampleTank 2's STInstruments folder. What will happen is that it will recognize the ST1 format sounds that are within the ST2 XL sound set but it won't recognize the new ST2 format stuff (but of course your ST2 XL which can browse to the same folder will as well as all of your SR sounds etc.).

Basically, you shouldn't have to duplicate the sounds. For more help on this you can call IK tech support. But, hopefully this sets you in the right direction,. Where are you getting the ST2 upgrade from?

Thanks Squids! Figured you would have thought of this already. Your answer is exactly what I was hoping to do (wanted to be sure first).

I got ST2 from you, a while back! (I'm the Tele bass guy). Just getting around to installing it since I was still using WinME. Looks dope so far.

Thanks again man!

Oh, cool Scott. Happy Birthday by the way. I seem to remember that ours were around the same time.

The Tele Bass is sampled for an upcoming software module called Studiophonik along with a ton of other brand basses, guitars, drums and more. So, if you ever wanted that sound again... ;)

Good to see ya.
