Ok, so, now I wonder, should I bother about creating a Linux version of Wusik Station V8? Can someone help me out? Otherwise I will need to charge a premium fee so I can learn the way...

Really, I'm sure someone could give me some directions...

I will them get an extra HD to boot some Linux version to compile and test things out. But I have no clue if this is something that people will use, and where to start.

Anyway, please, let me know, I need some input on this.

The Bitwig DAW works well in linux, as do the linux ports of the U-he plugins,
PianoteQ, and DiscoDSP Discovery Pro.

To the degree that Wusik is a sampler/rompler, there is a need for that in linux,
as linuxsampler is a bit complex for average musicians to tamper with.
There is a lot of interest in .sfz files. While porting linux may not be
a huge moneymaker up front, in the long run, down economies always
encourage thrift, and Wusik is priced at impulse, or mild savings, for many folks.

If you can make a nice simple installer, like U-he, I think a few hundred
people would test a demo. You might post this query at www.linuxmusicians.com
along with youtube links, answer questions that come up, and watch the page count
for a month. An open source lin/mac/pc synth called Helm was released recently,
and has gotten nice reviews, and 1300+ announcement page views,
despite being early beta.

Converting some soundbanks to solid sfz files, with good prices,
might be another option to consider, and inspire confidence in the full product.

Bitwig daw installs in /opt
and creates two folders in /home/you
for sripts, sounds misc

Pianoteq unpacks to a location you choose,
with a standalone executable, and .so native vst.

U-he plugin installer scripts install to /home/you/.u-he
with links to that folder placed in /home/you/.vst/u-he

/home/you/.vst is a convenient folder used for native linux vsts.

Yes, create a Linux version! Wusik Station can really fill a gap on Linux. I owned the Windows version in the past and it would be fun to use it again on Linux. I can test the Linux version in different hosts (Bitwig, Renoise, Tracktion, Ardour4).

Yeah, I'm also interested in having WS in my Linux computer. There is really an unfilled gap in need of good samplers.

Market wise, developing for Linux is a very bad idea. I've done my research and the market is paper thin. It's up to you to decide if it's worth your while, but unless you're a Linux geek yourself and want to do it out of principle, it's not worth it in my opinion.

As a Linux user of course I'd love to see a native WS, but I have to agree with Numanoid here. Your existing users will appreciate your attention to present problems, and you can always make a Linux version afterwards if you're still motivated.

I agree. You just announced two new products in the current Group Buy, and two others possible, and not even a screenshot of a WIP was shown. You have responsibilities twoards those that subscribed that Group Buy. You should concentrate in getting that job done really quick, before embracing anything else. If you do not this, in the end it will be you and your business who will suffer and pay the consequences.

You guys are right. A linux version is a nonsense, unless compiling the LV2 from the source is as easy as one step (and I don't think so).
