For years now we've offered the ability to change the background image to anything you like, as well as the ability to change the Mod Source selector dials to dropdown menus (which we've now made the default behavior in 1.30 B2).
I'm sure there did used to be images of the older alternative skins (just backgrounds then) and some with dropdowns too but he seems to have downsized his site quite a bit.

Alright, good decision to make the drop-down menus default. Really, those knobs are the first thing which i notice when i look at the GUI, they look bad, and they're not very clear too.

Looking forward to what people come up with for Poly ... :hyper:

Thats the most ugly synth i have ever seen.

It looks like a turd. And you have to pay for it such a high price. And it sounds only decent.

If your turds are blue with knobs on you might want to get that looked at ... ;)

And as he didn't make those modifyable to non-knob elements, i don't see how someone would be able to improve that GUI. They really need to be drop down menus, or something similar. Total misconception to make those rotary knobs.
Trolling by accident. :hihi:

Is Admiral Profanity back or still banned? 8)

I don't care if a synth is ugly (my trusty Sylenth is one of the ugliest commercial plugins ever made), but this one seems to be barely usable with such insane amount of controls crowding a tiny space. I 'm not sure that any reskinning can fix that.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

I tend to agree regarding PA.
But not regarding Sylenth, to the contrary I think it has a pretty good GUI. It looks and feels solid, like hardware. The layout is easy to remember, controls come in different sizes and shapes, text is big enough to read...
What more can one ask for? :)

Post

By "ugly" I mean only the aesthetic aspect, not the usability. I just hate the color scheme of Sylenth (and I'm probably not the only one - look at the amount of the bootleg Sylenth skins floating around).

I agree that in terms of ease of use and intuitiveness the Sylenth' GUI is among the best ones.

I even like the color scheme. It is friendly and relaxed, unlike that gloomy Hive GUI for instance. The only thing I would change is the upper panel color of layer 2, they are too similar to the Filter Control and Mixer panels.

Curious how the new skin will look, judging from the teaser it will look very nice.

I do like though that all Poly-Ana controls are on one page, unlike sylenth1 where the oscillators are tabbed. I'd much rather see everything at once. I think someone could easily make a nice looking skin with the current layout. Simple buttons with lights for on/off rather than sideways switches, either just dropdowns for mod sources or combo knob/list like in synthsquad, and simple knobs that indicate their position better than those tiny little bumps on the current small knobs - This will all go a long way.

Post

So, how does the sound fare compared to other synths of that price range and type? I remember demoing PA a long time ago, but the GUI pissed me off so much that I uninstalled it after a few minutes, so I don't remember its sound.

I got Poly-Ana since more than 7 years now.
No matter if the developer got banned or not (personally i never had issues with him...) Poly-Ana is still a great sounding synth wit ha huge amount of features and it will stay great in the future with the current and upcoming updates.

While the GUI when switched to drop-down menus is much better a new skin would be welcome indeed.

Actually after having sold a bunch of plugins recently Poly-Ana is back in my "focus" recently. Was too much "distracted" by other synths in the past.

that thing is permanently on sale. not to mention the most recent 'sale' was supposed to end june 21st ...and the sale price, and june 21st end date, were still on the website up until a few days ago. so now the 'sale' has been ammended to last during the whole 1.30 version ? OK. If he says so. 'sale' pricing is meaningless with this guy as far as i'm concerned. the idea of a sale is to encourage people to buy now, while it's cheap. Ya, that's only effective if the sale price lasts for a short amount of time and only happens infrequently.

it's an expensive synth for what appears to be this guy's hobby at best, a one man operation, the EULA seemed pretty up tight last time I checked and of course it's ugly as sin (thankfully being addressed ?)

I can think of better ways to invest $135.

it's worth about $50 by my estimation.
