Is there a way to randomize all parameters in a VST using a simple click?
In FL studio for example, there is "Randomize" feature inside the list of the presets, which will randomize all parameters. Is there such a function in Live?

There is "Device Randomizer" with Max 4 Live, but it works only for Audio Effects? No one for Instruments?

The M4L Device Randomizer works just fine on instruments. Have you tried it? Open a plugin, insert the Randomizer as an insert, click map, then the titlebar of the instrument you want to randomize, and off you go.

I see! I've found this that random more than 16 params http://www.maxforlive.com/library/devic ... for-live-9

Both works fine, even if it's loaded after Instruments.
But... not with VSTs :(

Oh no, I see! First I need to move all parameters, then refresh the list. Damn is an heavy work :(
And this "list" is limited, so I won't get the whole parameter lists :O

Eeehm, yeah that one is better. Just tried it. However, you don't have to move all the parameters by hand.
What it does is it looks at the parameters that are configured in Live (and for instance visible to automation). You can add a line to the options.txt file to have Live do this automatically. The one caveat is that no more than 128 parameters can be configured at the same time.
Look here for info on the options.txt file, scroll down a bit to find the relevant "PluginAutoPopulateThreshold " line that you'll need. https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article ... file-live/

Yeah, it seems to works very well, nice option this ;)

But why only 128?!?!? The only DAW I see with this limitation...

Post

No way to get rid of this limit?

Post

Nope, Live just won't do that.

I could be mistaken, but is 128 the maximum number of exposed parameters defined in the VST specification?
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Ableton doesn't show all Diva's params, like VCF ones... doh!

Other than that i's working great with M4L Randomizers and Lfo, with Vst's with less than 128 params.

Any way to workaround this?

Edit : i've found. If you don't autopopulate, or the autopopulate find less than the max 128 params, just press the config button in the instrument box, then move the desired param so it's added to the pile.
If the autopopulate found 128 params, and there's no more place to add one, expand the instrument box, click on one of the detected params, press "delete" to remove it. Then do the previous step i explain (config, move param). Made my day!
