I just got a new computer and am attempting to move Alchemy to it- Macbook Pro with Yosemite and downloaded all the Alchemy files before the site was shut down.

I'm running Ableton 64 Bit and cannot get the presets to show up. Whenever I scan it just says Scanning Done in about a second. It says zero Presets. They are in the Library Alchemy folder - 7+ gigs

Can anybody help me???

Sounds like you've installed the sample libraries but not the presets - do you have an allpresets file? (Alchemy-All-Presets.CamelSounds)

Post

seems like maybe I don't? What could I do?

If I hit Random the presets come up and I can play them, but I cannot figure out a way to manually load or scan. I made sure to download the Main Install with all the sound libraries. Wouldn't all I need be included? Obviously, I cannot DL anything else now.
Thanks

Well if you are moving from one computer to another you could just copy your presets folder across. That's actually how I moved it onto my Mac.

Do you know the difference between these two folders? On my old computer the presets folder has .acp files

In the new version I downloaded a couple weeks ago from the Camel Audio site... it has .aaz files?

And the new folder is 7 gigs... the old one is 1.37

acp files are the presets - aaz files are resynthesised samples (which go in the same folders as the presets, unlike wav and sfz samples which go in the samples folder) - this also confirms that you have not installed the presets as I suspected, just the samples. The aaz files are installed with the samples, but the preset installer is separate. You should have downloaded both, but if you haven't then hopefully copying the old preset folder from your other computer will work.

Do you think the new downloads included free versions of all the add on sound libraries? Is that why it would be 7 gigs? I found my old presets installation and I end up with around 1000 sounds. I'm wondering why I would have such a larger file size library now, but no more sounds than I had before on my old computer?

Is this a thing where the newer versions of Alchemy had you download all the available sounds and it would open the license as you buy them, but all 7 gigs is on everyone's computer? Or, had I gotten the right presets file, would it have given me all the sounds? Did they give away all the sounds in the end?
Thanks

CA gradually added to the Factory Library, so now it is 6.25 GB. Taste of Camel includes bits of the others, so would easily total 7GB.

On win 7 the last installer I downloaded works fine, both samples and presets are automatically installed and there is nothing else to do than launch the plugin and let it scan for a while.

Still, I use Alchemy and (sigh...) it sounds great...

Alchemy finds the right location of the library folder if you correct the path in the "AlchemyConfig" text file located in "ProgramData/Camel Audio/Alchemy" (win7).

(BTW, I would not like someone else showing my name on the GUI of Alchemy, nor even share my personal details with anybody else)

Apple

And any gear you bought from Camel Audio, probably got your name watermarked.

Yeah, Apple own the intellectual property, which they would have paid a lot of money for.
So they'd be pretty pissed if someone decided to share it, because it deserved a free distribution model.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.
