If the manual is good, then yes. U-he ones are amazing. iZotope makes also great ones. ...and few others.

never used to, which was a mistake.

edit : having now read the article, i would like to clarify that my not r'ingtfm is more about laziness than principal. furthermore, i absolutely make sure i read enough to get the thing working, and would never contact support until i was really stumped

my wish to read more manuals, more often, is to avoid getting into lame workflows, and frustrated restriction from not having explored the instructions. many times i have attempted to sit down and learn, but as soon as the daw goes on i end up making some kind of music. it's not the worst situation

The article is more specifically about users harassing support teams because they need to be spoon fed as they can't be f**ked to read the manual.

Surely only a moron would not read the manual if they couldn't figure something out intuitively.

Wait a minute, you can't expect users not reading manuals, to read articles about not reading manuals :hihi:

It did make me think of the average kvr member who doesn't know how to use the search function and creates that umpteenth thread on what's the best plug for butt pleasure, I mean delays etc

We should have our own Darwin awards sub forum

I know, and agree with you

But I'm thinking if those users didn't do that, KVR would probaly be a very quiet, slow and ultimately boring forum with few posts each day

Same. I often find myself wondering why i didn't realize there's function X or Y though when watching tutorial, or review videos, and keep thinking then that i really should have taken a look at the manual some times... i took a look in the Largo manual recently, and especially the appendix part about oscillators is brilliant, very good read with even historic details explained. But i surely wouldn't blame anyone else for stuff i didn't get, or didn't know due to my own ignorance. And i really feel for the guy writing the article, i can surely follow what he's experienced. Especially the younger generations get more and more "brain lazy".

I'm more frightened by the younger generations brain abilities, it's when getting older the brain start to erode

I used to RTFM until I realized that they all have the same plot and the same outcome: the index did it. Lame.
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Slim Phatty | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

I probably belong to the minority of those who absolutely read every manual from cover to cover before starting to use something. It's manly due to two thing: it saves me a lot of time in the long run by not wasting time on inventing the bicycle every time; i usually have to support many of those things for others.

I read all my manuals - software manuals, tv manuals, food mixer manuals - but I love reading. I even read the sides of cereal boxes when I'm having breakfast and ketchup labels when I'm having dinner...

Yes. And I quite like it. :-)

Hey, Oh sure, I'm a bonafide manual nerd and always have been, really.

Some manuals are not all that good, as has been noted. But some are quite engaging, I mean if you like reading manuals. Yeah, sure, I like a great manual.

But wait - just a minute there...

Wadaya mean, I don't have a social life... hey, just what the f**k are you sayin' anyhow?..why, I oughta... :hihi:   :D :)

Nope , I may use the index or table of contents when I get stuck , if I have trouble doing basic crap ex , arm track record audio or midi events then , I don't RTFM and just uninstall.
