Modulation wheel on midi channel 2?

I have a rack set to midi channel 2 for the input, but when configured like this the modulation wheel has no effect, as if CC 1 is not being sent along midi channel 2. When I change the rack to "omni" midi input, the modulation wheel works correctly.

Any idea what is wrong? Not sure if it is Cantabile or my keyboard that is causing the problem. Other things work in channel 2 (ie pitch bend) so not sure why the modulation wheel is not working.

If omni is working you may insert midi monitor:

and try to find out what channel is actually generating modulation wheel messages
Or you may use MidiOx
